The Crowd Noise Is One Reason Falcons Are 12-1 In Dome

Peters at practiceCrowd noise is going to be a big issue for the Birds on Sunday afternoon.  The Georgia Dome is going to be packed and noisy for Michael Vick’s return.

Donovan McNabb doesn’t seem to have a problem with it but left tackle Jason Peters will probably jump offsides a couple of times because of the noise.

He seems to do it every time they get in one of these situations.  I just hope that he gets them out of the way early in the game and not on an important drive later one.

Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg had this say about playing in the Geogia Dome, “Crowd noise, that‚Äôs a big issue. We think we‚Äôre pretty good at it and we‚Äôll see in this game. We have to stymie their quickness just a little bit. They have some excellent players, excellent schemes and they play very well on defense at home.‚Äù

Mornhinweg believes the combination of their athletic talent and the crowd noise creates some serious problems for defenses.  I know John Abraham is an outstanding speed rusher and he will line up on either side left or right.

He utilizes the crowd noise to get the jump on the offensive tackles, so I think it would be a smart move to give the tackle which has Abraham some help on big third down plays.

Mornhinweg is very well aware that this Falcon football has lost only one game at the Georgia Dome in the last two years.

“They’re 12-1 in the last 13 games at home. One of their strengths is their quickness and speed and on the turf and with the crowd noise advantage they can get after you. They can make a good offense look bad if you’re not right on it and so certainly a big emphasis that way. That’s one of the many things that we need to do this week to have a chance to be any good at all against this defense. They have talent across the board.”

The Birds had better show up ready to play their best football.
