Despite all the injuries the Falcons suffered, we knew it was still going to be important for the Eagles to play well to get the win down in Atlanta.  And even though they kind of let the Falcons hang around in the first half, they put the clamps down in the second and put it away 34-7.
So, let’s take a look at the game:
What I liked…
-Jeremy Maclin is just getting better every week.¬† Your guess is as good as mine as far as who will be QB’ing this team in three years, but I think we know who the two starting wideouts will be.¬†
-I love the push the defensive line got down at the goal line at the end of the first half.  I know the Falcons were sans Harvey Dahl, but still.  You can only play who is in front of you.
-I thought Macho Harris did a decent job today.¬† I’m not going to go overboard like Moose Johnston, but he did an admirable job on Tony Gonzalez.¬† Also, remember my expectations are very low here considering how awful the Eagles are at covering tight ends.
-How can you not love Leonard Weaver.  Please sign him to a longer deal now.  What else are we waiting to see?  He runs, he blocks, he catches.  That one-handed catch was something you rarely see from a fullback.
-I hope they keep Jason Babin.¬† He comes cheap and he is productive when he’s in there.¬†
-I like that there were plenty of boos for Vick.¬† Most people have gotten over everything he did in the past.¬† I haven’t.
-Nice job by Sheldon Brown on the INT for the TD.¬† Still….it was off Chris Redman.
-Look at Asante Samuel putting on a tackling clinic!  Good job.  One of his teammates must have said something.
….and not so much…
-I don’t like Mike Smith’s decision to go for it on fourth down at the end of the first half down only 13-0.¬† You kick the field goal and it’s 13-3.¬† And then when you have the ball down there again and it’s 20-3, you kick another field goal and you are only down two touchdowns.¬† Take the points early in the game, don’t be dumb.
-Chris Redman is brutal.¬† I know there are a lot of guys who aren’t starting quality QB’s, but are more than capable backups.¬† I don’t think that the’s a backup-caliber NFL QB.¬† He was dreadful.
-The Eagles offensive line just has to be better.  This is ridiculous.  It will fly when you are playing a battered team like the Falcons, but not in the playoffs.
-I wish Donovan would run more.¬† I’ve been saying this forever now.¬† It’s such a weapon and I hate that he takes it away from himself.¬†
-Quinton Demps should never be accused of being smart.¬† Yes, you could argue that his two personal fouls were ticky tack.¬† But he just doesn’t play with any kind of intelligence.¬† Don’t put the refs in position to make those calls.¬† That’s exactly what he did.¬†¬†
-If you are going to make a sign that’s seen on television, you might want to work a little harder to not make yourself look like a total idiot.¬† “Atlanta Love Vick” makes no sense.¬†
-A reminder to all the Atlanta fans pouring their hearts out to Vick.¬† This is a guy that once flipped you a double bird.¬† This guy never worked hard for you.¬† He didn’t take being in the NFC Championship game all that seriously because, as he later said, he thought it’d be a lot easier to get back to those.¬† If it wasn’t for getting lucky with a guy like Matt Ryan, your football team would be in a total hole for years….because of this guy that you are writing poorly written signs of affection towards.¬†
-What’s with the all-yellow screen that I get about six times a week from FOX?¬†
-I’m confused on the Roddy White incompletion.¬† Hochuli said that they couldn’t review it because there wasn’t clearly recovered by the defense.¬† And the announcers agreed.¬† Even after we just watched about three times where an Eagles defender fell on the ball immediately (I think it was Sean Jones).¬†
That’s all for today.¬† The Eagles crushed a woeful team so there wasn’t too much to get excited or angry about.¬† They have a chance to squeeze the life out of the Giants next week.¬†
I needed to draft you one little bit of observation so as to say thank you once again for those incredible methods you’ve documented here. It is quite pretty generous of people like you to deliver freely exactly what a number of people could possibly have made available as an e book to end up making some cash for themselves, most importantly given that you could possibly have done it if you ever decided. These inspiring ideas also served like the fantastic way to comprehend other individuals have similar eagerness like my own to know great deal more on the subject of this issue. I’m sure there are many more fun occasions in the future for individuals who look into your blog post.
