Donovan McNabb said that DeSean Jackson has meant as much to this year’s offense as Terrell Owens meant to the 2004 offense.
McNabb said they would get mismatches with Owens by using his size and speed but with Jackson they use his quickness and speed. He gets downfield on a defender and creates a speed mismatch.
I think he makes a good point by saying that because Jackson is making McNabb’s job easier and he’s making his other teammates better.
All the nonsense about not needing a number one receiver doesn’t pass the smell test.
It doesn’t make any sense at all. When you’ve got a guy who the other team has to try to double cover all the time, he makes everybody else better.
There are games when Jackson doesn’t have a big game but he still makes a huge impact on the game. That’s what a number one receiver does for a football team.
Teams can double team him but he still does major damage.
If you ask tight end Brent Celek he’ll tell you that having DeSean Jackson on the football field makes him a better tight end.
McNabb talked about how he tries to stress the importance of staying focused on the job at hand, rather than concentrating on what other teams are doing or what is being said in the media.
McNabb said he was happy with the upgrades that have been made in the last couple of years and says these young players have been a tremendous help to the football team.
He said he loves being the veteran guy on the team and you can tell it. I believe it has meant him watching what he says and does in front of his younger teammates.
