If the Birds tackle like they did this past Sunday night against the Giants, they’ll get embarrassed by San Francisco feature back Frank Gore.
The Eagles defense had better show up ready to gang tackle and pound Gore. He runs the football like a grown man.
He’s a powerful, passionate and physical runner who will break tackles and drive the pile. One guy isn’t going to bring him down most of the time.
They hit him up high and wrap him up. Gore has powerful legs which will allow him to run through tackles.
It’s going to take a gang of defenders to get him on the ground, so the Birds defense must hustle to the ball and not assume that he’s down.
The Niners won’t feature Gore until they have a lead but if they get a lead, the Eagles are going to see plenty of him.
San Francisco built a lead against the Cardinals and Gore ran for 167 yards.
It’s important that the defensive tackles Mike Patterson and Brodrick Bunkley do a good job of attacking the line of scrimmage and beating the double teams.
Gore loves to run inside and he’s able to turn a dive play into four or five yards to keep the sticks moving.
If the Birds can get a one, two or three score lead, it will take Gore out of the Niners game plan a great deal.
