Eagles Win Despite Playing Only One Half Of Game

Celek running in for TDIt was like two different games.  One took place in the first half and was dominated by the Eagles.  Another game took place in the second half and was controlled by the Broncos.

The Birds offense played like they were going to set a record for yardage while they were going up and down the field and doing anything they wanted to do.

In the second half the Eagles offense couldn’t get out of its own way.  They had bad snaps, bad blocking bad throws and bad routes.

It was hard to believe that the same two teams were playing, but that’s the way it is in the NFL.

Akers celebrates winDonovan McNabb couldn’t do any wrong in the first half, he threw for 242 yards and two touchdowns with a 153.8 quarterback rating.  He had time to go through his options and pick out the best place to go with the football.

The Broncos led by linebacker/defensive end Elvis Dumervil put pressure on him in the second half.  Dumervil came down with two sacks and their defense stayed in McNabb’s face.

Denver’s defense adjusted to what they saw in the first half and figured out ways to blitz the Birds successfully as well as keep the ball of tight end Brent Celek’s hands.

Thankfully they were able to pull it out with a couple of plays by McNabb, one with his legs and one with his arm and a great catch by rookie Jeremy Maclin.

David Akers did as expected and nailed a short field goal for the win.

This will be the last time this year that they’ll be able to play one half of a game and still get the victory.
