I don’t need Donovan McNabb to say word for word what I think he shoud say during a news conference. And I also don’t need him to come out and literally hang himself for me to say he said the right thing.
I thought he said the right thing this morning to be done with any controversy about his comments about “the team showing their youth” on Sunday in Dallas.
He said “it all starts with him” and he said “he has to raise the level of his game”. That’s good enough for me and it was also good enough for his teammates who didn’t have a problem with what he said on Sunday.
That means that myself and the other guys in the media have to let go of this controversy and find something else.
McNabb even joked that
I sat and listened to a local media member explaining to Merrill Reese why he feels Donovan McNabb isn’t a good big game quarterback and won’t get the job done this weekend.
That’s all anybody was talking about today at the Nova Care complex.
If you listened to these guys you would swear everybody knew everything on Tuesday for a game on Saturday.
The game this weeknend isn’t just about McNabb it’s about the Eagles finding a way to beat the Dallas Cowboys.
Their job won’t be easy but the possibility is there.
If McNabb and the Eagles win this football game, you’re going to hear how the game was no big deai.
Like Wade Phillips said last week, “they’re only big games if you lose”.
