Yesterday the Eagles finished their final complete practice in preparation for their Saturday playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys. They’ll have a walk-thru this morning before getting on the charter to Dallas.
Veteran middle linebacker Jeremiah Trotter said the Eagles defense didn’t play their game last Sunday, but they’re “going to be flying round and hitting people” when they get to Dallas.
Trotter played well in the second half of the last game and totaled 7 tackles. He was attacking the running plays but was beaten on a pass play by Jason Witten.
The Eagles have to find a way to use him to help them stop the Dallas running game, yet protect him with help in the pass coverages.
I think the Eagles should attack the Cowboys from the start of the game to the finish. They shouldn’t be afraid to blitz them and they must attack their running game and get off blocks.
If they don’t come up with some turnovers, they’re probably not going to win the game.
I think they should go after it.
Andy Reid says they’re going to be true to themselves and play the type of football that got them here.
“We’ve gone back and we’ve analyzed the mistakes we made, and the players have worked hard on correcting them, as have the coaches,” Reid said this afternoon. “They’ve been upbeat. These are competitive guys. They don’t like what took place last week and so they get back to business and try to right the wrong.”
You can tell by the atmosphere in the locker room that they’ve made an effort to focus on the work at hand but stay loose and confident at the same time.
The Eagles know they’ve got their work cutout for them as they try to beat a team which dominated them in a game which was less than a week ago.
The Birds elected their playoff captains, Donovan McNabb, Brian Westbrook on the offense, Jeremiah Trotter and Sheldon Brown on the defense and David Akers and Tracy White on the special teams.
