Both Giants and Eagles players indicted Andy Reid for just standing there on the sidelines and not doing anything to adjust to the Giants pass rush. I was astonished looking at the games and not seeing an adjustment.
Michael Strahan was amazed that the Eagles didn't do something to counter Winston Justice's inablity to block Umenyiora. He saw the back and the tight end lining up to his side and couldn't believe a staff of NFL coaches wouldn't make an adjustment. "The tackle, move the back over there. I am 35. Runyan is an All-Pro. Go help the young kid. I felt in a lot of ways, you're going to run the guy. If that is his first start and that is what he gets, it is not a good thing. In Philadelphia the poor kid goes out and orders some food, they might do something to him. I feel bad for the kid, I really do."
Brian Westbrook who stood on the sideline and watched the embarrassment realized that a change should have been made. He said after the game, "Osi, he's a Pro Bowl player, Winston hasn't played very much at all. We have to do some things to help him.''
After the game was over, Reid admitted he had messed up. He said the obvious, "Against that defensive line, I need to give a little help and I didn't do that". Why sacrifice another game for a dumb reason? This is the second game in which Andy Reid's inability to make an adjustment during a game, has cost the team dearly. Remember a play here or a play there and this game was there for the taking.
