Eagles WR’s And Corners Didn’t Measure Up Vs. Dallas

Williams catches ball against Brown We found out some amazing things in the last two weeks in the games against Dallas but you won’t read this anywhere but here because all the people seem to think our only problem is Donovan McNabb.

I was amazed to see that the Cowboys corners could cover our receivers most of the time, but our corners couldn’t cover their receivers most of the time.

Let me first of all say that good and big is better than good and small.

DeSean Jackson talked trash during the lead up to the game, but was missing during every game the Eagles played against Dallas.

I think Andy Reid and his staff have to take some of the responsiblity but it also means some of the people who want to make Jackson a Hall of Famer, might need to slow up.

As great as Jackson was this year, he still is only 5’10” and 165 pounds.  Terrence Newman and Mike Jenkins have shown that they can cover him.

Jeremy Maclin had a big day but in three games Newman and Jenkins have shown that they can cover them.

Two years in a row, Asante Samuel’s tendency to play off of  receivers has been utilzed to burn the Eagles.  Last year it was Larry Fitzgerald running shallow crossing routes.  This year it was Miles Austin running wide receiver screens.

The Cowboys beat Sheldon Brown all season long.  Austin beat him here on a double move to give Dallas the first game, earlier in the season.

In the second game, he was called for a key penalty on the first drive, then beaten for a touchdown later in the game.

This past Saturday night, Brown was victimized by nearly every receiver Dallas has on it’s roster.  Even Roy Williams turned him around on a key third down play.

Our third corner Joselio Hanson can’t cover Dallas third receiver Patrick Crayton. Crayton was wide open every time Tony Romo needed him to get open.

If the Eagles decide to get rid of Donovan McNabb, it won’t change the fact that the Cowboys seem to be better than the Birds in the cornerback and wide receiver matchups.
