Moving Brown Might Mean Curtis Is Here To Stay

I thought Kevin Curtis and not Reggie Brown was the guy who was going to be traded by the Eagles.¬† Curtis is making much more money but it now looks like they’re going to hang onto him.

I think Curtis is the better of the two but he’s making much more money this year and he only played in a few games last year.

In the past there’s no way the Eagles would have been working on a big-time raise with their top receiver, DeSean Jackson, after drafting one, Jeremy Maclin, the year before in the first round, and paying a backup, Curtis a $3.4 million dollar salary and a $1 million dollar roster bonus.

We won’t know for sure until June 1st when Curtis is due the roster bonus.

Moving Brown is making me think that Curtis will be here this year.¬† Hanging onto Curtis means they’re valuing the speed which they have at the wide receiver position.¬† He will be able to come of the bench and keep the pressure on the opposing defense with the speed he brings.

This shows that all the nonsense we heard for years about a team not needing quality wide recievers to win was totally nonsense because of the fact that they didn’t have quality receivers.¬† All of a sudden now the Eagles are trying to draft and accumulate as much wide receiver talent as they can get.

Now the wide receiver position is the strength of the team.  Go figure.

They’ve seen how it has made the same offense much more explosive than it was for years.¬† Now every time one of the wide receivers touches the football, there’s a threat that they can take it all the way.

In fairness to the Eagles, they tried to address the wide receiver position but missed on quite a few picks, most notably Freddie Mitchell.
