The Eagles Need More Offensive Weapons

It's starting to look like the Eagles have made a bad decision thinking that they had the liberty of passing on their first round draft pick by letting Donte Stallworh go and passing on their first round pick in this year's draft.

They clearly don't have enough offensive weapons.  They have one premium weapon offensively, and that's Brian Westbrook.  They really don't have a number one receiver who has to be double teamed all the time.  Kevin Curtis is a two receiver at best, but he's always performed as a third receiver.  The Eagles have brought him in and looked for him to function as a number one receiver.   He got good speed but he's very small and vulnerable to being beat up.

Reggie Brown is also a number two receiver at best.   He surely not a number one receiver who draws double teams week in and week out.  Brown's speed is only average.  Defenses don't fear him beating them deep.

L.J. Smith has proven to be somewhat of a weapon at tight end but he's never been an All-Pro or as consistent as the Eagles would have liked him to be.

Donovan McNabb is no longer a feared weapon because he can take off out of the pocket.  McNabb's legs and ability to scramble have covered the Eagles offensive weaknesses for years but that's no longer the case.

For some reason Andy Reid and his staff have tried to run a passing offense without a number one receiver.  The only true number one receiver they've ever had was Terrell Owens.  Owens would get double teamed week in and week out, yet still continue to be productive.  Right now the Eagles have trouble putting pressure on a defense if running back Brian Westbrook isn't on the field.

The Birds have to go out after the season and get some dynamic offensive weapons.  They have to get receivers who teams have to double team.  They also need at least two or three receivers who can't get deep.

If they refuse to go out and get these types of quality receivers then they need to be a ball possession run first team.
