The Bye Week And Westbrook

What is it about the bye week that wakes up Andy Reid’s Eagles football teams.  They are 9-0 in games following the bye week.  Never had they been in such a bad situation with a 1-3 record.

A 1-4 record was not an option so it was step up time for the Birds.

You’ve got the Philadelphia Eagles with Brian Westbrook and then you have the Philadelphia Eagles without Brian Westbrook.  He’s the one weapon the Birds have that teams can’t stop.  Even though defenses try to put together game plans to stop him but they continue to have little success doing it.

There’s no question that the Philadelphia Eagles are a different football team when Brian Westbrook is on the field.  He ran for 120 yards on 20 carries and contributed another 36 yards with 6 catches.  I loved the way Westbrook and the Eagles offensive line put away the Jets game by grinding the New York defensive line into powder.  BWest has the ability to slide through holes and look for something inside then use his speed to get outside and around the corner.  Yes, it was good to see the Birds beat a poor Jets team, but they’ll have to play much better to gain victories over some of the tough teams left on their schedule.

As great as BWest is as a player, he’s not durable so I won’t be surprised if he misses a game or games in the remaining schedule.  This could be a problem.  The Eagles can’t make the mistake of using him too much.
