Bad Technique Used By DB’s

Don't blame the Eagles defensive backs for failing to turn around when they're covering a receiver and the ball is thrown their way.  Foolishly, they are coached to not turn around and play the ball.

You've seen Sean Considine look like a fool.  You sit and yell at your television as the Eagles defensive backs are torched by opponents because they won't turn around and play the football.   Jim Johnson and his defensive staff coach the Eagles to never turn around.  Of course not turning around will prevent the Birds defensive backs from ever coming down with interceptions on those plays.  They also can't stop a guy from jumping to catch the ball or coming back to it when it is underthrown.  It's a bad technique.

The defensive tackles had major troubles dealing with the interior of Washington's offensive line.   Mike Patterson and Brodrick Bunkley didn't get any penetration on run plays and were able to get little pressure on Jason Campbell in the passing game.  It's got to get better.

Takeo Spikes has been unable to make any big plays for the Birds.  He's been a disappointment in that area. I will give him credit in that he was all over the place making 9 unassisted tackles and three assists.

We haven't heard from Trent Cole in a couple of weeks.  It seems that he's started to wear down as he has in the past.  The Eagles pass rush was totatlly absence until Mike Patterson got to Jason Campbell on the end of the game.  Think about the kind of money being spent on the Eagles defensive line.  They've got to start putting more pressure on the quarterback or the Birds won't be able to stop anybody.
