No They Won’t

Yes, the Giants are playing their best football and the Patriots have not been the Patriots that we have come to know and love (or, you know…hate).  But there are a couple of factors,

that tell me that the Patriots are poised to take care of business.

First of all, the extra week is hurting the G-men.  Remember the Colorado Rockies?  You may or many not have noticed, but they are the squad that beat the Phillies like a redheaded step child in the playoffs in 2007.  To say they were on fire would be an understatement. They were a raging inferno that steamrolled through every opponent in their way.  But, by the time it took the Red Sox to finish off Cleveland, they were reduced to tepid.  The Giants have been in a rhythm and I believe that this extra week will break that rhythm.  Also, the extra week gave Tom Brady another minute to heal his bum ankle.

Now, you see all of this Matt Walsh stuff bubbling to the surface.  The Spygate nonsense has been pretty quiet during the Super Bowl period, eh?  It’s not anymore. The Giants running their mouths could not motivate the Patriots any more than talk of cheating.  It eats at Belichick.  It burns him to his core to think that people believe his team is great because he cheated.  He will flip Tom Brady’s robot button to the “dominate” position.  If I’m the Giants, I would fly someone to Hawaii to stuff a sock in Walsh’s mouth pronto.

As far as the Giants playing well and the Patriots playing not-so-well, I don’t think it matters. That’s the deal with the Patriots. They don’t have to play their best football to win. They haven’t played their best in many games this year, but they still win. They are that talented.

I don’t like the fact that the Patriots requested a federal patent on the term “19-0” this week. Why?  Why?!  Why would you do that now?  It’s motivation for the Giants.  I like that the NY Post filed for a patent of 18-1, though.  That is hilarious.

But I don’t think that matters.  I think the Giants secondary has fought valiantly, but that it’s just not good enough this time. Ahmad Bradshaw could possibly take advantage of slower linebackers, but you don’t run the ball when you are down 21 points.  I think the Pats will be fired up and ready to get the job done.

Patriots 35, Giants 17
