Eagles Fans Sound Off

From Mark,  For eagles to keep Stallworth and Curtis, they would have to let Brown go. Brown has long term deal and so does Curtis. Huge error you need to point out. But could have saved situation with chambers.  Reid is clueless on wideouts.

From Dominic,

G, heard some of your comments concerning AR the other day on WIP. Its difficlut to explain the plain LACK AR has concerning the Eagles.  Past and Present. He has been fumbling over excuses for the last 8 yrs with empty promises and literally empty insults to where it matters the most…the fans! Statements over and over, yr. after yr. e.g. We gotta do a better job….I'll take full blame for this loss ( of many)we need to look at the films and make corrections and the list goes on and on. The Super Bowl, a one time golden opportunity to bring a ring home was blundered by AR.  One of several examples:  3rd Quarter, 1st down on the Pats 8 yard line with a very healthy Mcnabb-Westbrook and Akers..AR calls a pass play on 1st down yet and it gets intercepted. After the game won by the Patriots by only 3 points AR said in an interview.."This will be a learning experience"!  A learning experience to not call a horrible play as that in a Super Bowl???? Bill Belichek said after the game…we handed the game to the Eagles…they just didnt take it!!

I could go on and on for a bunch more examples….2 yrs ago opening game with Dallas…4 min. into the game score was Dallas 7 Eagles 0.  9 minutes into the game 14-0  on and on it goes and in the final 3 min. of the game AR studying his game chart ? ? with the score Dallas 33-Eagles 10 and he continually had his head buried in the game chart…what was he looking for?  A way to score 23 points to even get a tie? In less that 3 min?   G….AR is NOT a great coach..a good one at best. He lacks inspiration and the ability to bring out more than any players best and WIP for the most part hide behind these facts. Again, after that horrific coaching game with Dallas..he offered "This game will be a learning experience and we gotta move on".  OH MY GOD…what an excuse.  I told Anthony & Steve and others on WIP that the Eagles will never win a Super Bowl with AR in command in any way.  He needs to step down or be replaced asap.  Now an excuse surfaces about his kids taking away his consentration??  What consentration?   Dundee's son took his life…no excuses out of his camp.

Charisma and personal bonding is a huge asset with a coach to his players…AR lacks big time in that arena.   Too much more to say and explain…thanks for listening and I love your show and your logic…its not only encourgeing its absolutely correct and factual….keep up the good work….Dominic

From Joel,
G, About two weeks ago I emailed you about how Chambers would be a good fit here.  He was playing on a terrible team in a strong conference.  No way Miami's making the playoffs.  In addition, the team is aging.  The once vaunted defense now has more holes than a collander.  They have no quarterback or running game.  They are 0-6 and will take at least two years to rebuild. Chambers is 28 and in his prime.  It made sense that they would move him.  I asked would Andy be willing to use a third or second round draft pick to acquire him.  Well, today he was traded to San Diego for a second round pick.

For the longest time I have a been a staunch supporter of Andy Reid.  However, to see us waist Donovan's best years with two number two receivers, two threes, or a three and a two as starters shines a light on Reid's biggest blind spot.  At this time I'm willing to say that Andy is only a little better than Buddy in the way he has treated his quarterback.

Routinely, just like Buddy, Andy has asked his quarterback to make bricks without straw.  In other words, Donovan, I'm not gonna give you everything you need to succeed, but win anyway.  I can see shades of Pharaoh's stubborness (and the tally of bricks shall not diminish)–I hope I got that right–in Andy's expectations for Donovan.  When will he realize that it is not the scheme–everyone for the most part schemes well in the nfl–it's the players.  You can't coach what Jerry Rice, Marvin Harrison, Terrel Owens, Tim Brown, Mike Quick and Randy Moss bring to the table.  We need some WR's that are game changers!  It's not about you and your scheme, Andy.  It's about the players.  Go out and get them, or get goin'.

From Ben,
This is exactly why the Eagles never had that edge when they were winning and why they'll never have it again under Reid unless their personnel decisions start getting better.  The guy is a softy just like his belly.  Eagles were winning on talent alone and now the coaching staff needs to step it up and they aren't.  Well mainly Andy needs to step it up and he hasn't.  His press conferences are more telling now then they ever have been before.  Or maybe we were just blinded by the winning.  The NFC has caught up to the Eagles and we're paying for it because Andy doesn't have a clue.  Andy you don't have the most talent anymore, now actually go out there and out coach someone for crying out loud.  Beating the Jets 16-9 does not count.

From Charles,

G,
I defend D. Mac probably more than the average guy, but on that play where he held the ball and took that sack, I was like throw the damn ball away.  Until he gets completely healthy he has to learn to throw the ball away.  Man if some of these coords p/u on some of the things I do while watching the Eagles.  Here's one.  If Baskett is in the game, it's a run… bank on it.  Thanks G.

From Phil,
your site today deals with a subject that i wrote to you during the preseason: that the eagles did not go for it all.

You finally stated the truth. With Stallworth,Curtis, Reggie Brown, a healthy LJ, and Brian W.- now that is alot of weapons to cover. Plus Stallworth and Curtis would stretch the field and open up the short game for a double tight end or something else.

This really bothers me because the Eagles just aren't really going for it (from a management point of view). The fact that they consider themselves the "gold standard" makes it worse. The gold standard lives in New England.

From Alan,
G:

Your comment about Sav's poor second punt was unfair, particularly since you failed to mention the "moonshot" first punt which went for 65 yards or so without a significant return.  Also, you should have mentioned that Sav's second punt was tipped which, I believe, was the result of poor blocking and not Sav's failure to get rid of the ball quickly.  While you may not like Sav's performance to date, the least you should do is to be fair to him which, unfortunately, your article was not.

From Mark,
Gary,

Assuming Moss and TO are 10's and Stallworth is a 9,where is Curtis. 8? Did Eagles make huge mistake in letting go Stallworth and getting  Curtis or a small error. Curtis' career stats are good and he can make plays, but I see him as  a good No.2 rcvr.
He can make plays, but is not a real difference maker.

From Gary,

Garry, I saw only the last 10 min. but they won,…thanks to some coaching errors on the other side for a change. Later in the evening I caught coach Reid's press conference. If there are two people in this world I can't listen to anymore , it's Pres. Bush and Andy Reid. Geez, he's pathetic !! If he says " we gotta do a better job " one more time ? He should be fired. Seriously, heads need to be rolling soon, first you let Stallworth go , did anyone see him yesterday ? He should be sending out thank you notes to the Eagles because he is going to have a ring this year.
I don't think the Patriots have more money to spend than the Eagles (?) But look at the talent they have accumulated…..consistently. I dunno, I think this team has a lot more talent than is being utilized to it's maximum potential. ( Andy sounds a little lost to me )

From Frank,
We will never win the Super Bowl with Andy Reid.  He will never commit to the run.
