Riley, G, Your article on firing AR the GM was a extremely good piece! I agree with you whole heartedly. Apparently, Jeffrey "The Gold Standard" Lurie has a different point of view as he has placed his stamp of approval on AR mediocrity.
Therefore, we are left with what we have. IMO that is more years of AR being the GM and Head coach. Unfortunately, Birds fans that mean more unpredictability in drafting and playcalling too. (Drafting that make you scratch your head and wonder, who's ARs private detective and what pictures does he have on Jeffrey Lurie or Joe Banner???) LOL
Seriously, it is obvious and more than apparent that we need help in WR department. I know that the draft is still away off, but I have been watching some very talented players over the past few weeks this season, and some will become available in next year's draft. If you guys don't mind, here is my two cents on players to watch the rest of the college season, and hopefully, AR may call one of these guys number.
Speedy slot type receivers: Donnie Avery (5/11/190.4.28 spd) played with Kevin Kolb in Houston. Anthony Aldridge (5'9/180 4.3 spd) equally devastating as a playmaker as Avery!!-Houston too. Honorable mention: Eddie Royal (5'10/180) VTech, Lavell Edwards (5'11/190) Cal, Dorien Bryant (5'11/180) Purdue, and Darius Reynaurd (5'10/200) WVU
Bigger, more physical Wide Receivers: DJ Hall Alabama (6'2/198) 4.4 spd (similar to Stallworth); late round possibilities: Da'Cody Fagg (6'3/213) FSU (very physical), Steve Johnson (6'2/205) Kentucky (very physical), Amarri Jackson (6'5/210) USF (similar to Brandon Marshall;
These are some that have stood out this year, that GM Andy could consider. Thanks, Riley
From JOHN,
To Eagles Management: At the end of the season –
BLOW IT UP!! LIGHT A NEW FIRE!!
It's been a great ride; but Andy Reid and the coaching staff are stale. The veterans have heard it all before, again and again. The newbies have no concept of how we bleed green in Philly. Point: After the FIRST GAME of the season loss to Green Bay, B West. states "We didn't come out with any sense of urgency – no fire!" An indictment on the coaches and many of the players.
Remember when a healthy McNabb, T.O. and a defense that posed fear on offenses took us to 4 points shy of a parade! Those days are gone!
Reid, as a GM, has not made consistently good selections over his tenure. Just look at the busts that are no longer here; but more importantly, look at the current team – mostly Reid's selections as GM. We have ONE playmaker – B West!!
Reid, the coach, protects his players with "I need to do a better job at putting players in better positions." The problem: HIS players (as GM, he picked them) are not good enough!
As for age of the team: Dawkins,Kearse,Howard,Runyan,W.Thomas – this is the last chance at holding the Lombardi trophy.
As for talent:
We are still waiting for the break-out year for L.J Smith. Also, the moment Kolb was drafted, McNabb (who will never be the same physically) is in his last year as an Eagle.
Reid will not be fired; but HE should walk away along with the rest of the staff!
Start a new era with B. West and Kolb as a base.
Hire a GM who has a track record with an eye for finding talent.
Hire a new coach.
Light a new fire!
Go Iggles!
