Eagles Cancel Dee Milliner’s Visit To Philly

DeeMilliner11The Philadelphia Eagles canceled a meeting with Alabama cornerback Dee Milliner, according Jeff McLane of Philly.com.  Milliner, who is considered the top cornerback in the upcoming draft was scheduled to visit the Nova Care Complex this week, but told McLane that the Birds changed their minds and decided they didn’t want him to pay a visit for some reason.

Who knows what going on because you can’t be sure this close to draft what teams are up to.  Sometimes cancellations are nothing but a head fake by an organization to keep other teams guessing about what they’re going to do in the draft.  Personally, I don’t see anyway the Birds draft Milliner at number four.

I think it’s more likely that they draft one of the top tackles, Texas A%M Luke Joeckel or Eric Fisher, or West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith.  Quite a few draft experts are forecasting the Birds grabbing Smith.  One or two of the them have predicted the Birds will take Milliner, but I doubt that very much. Below are some highlights of Dee Milliner’s time at Alabama. [media id=304 width=400 height=300]

I have a Milliner ranked #4 on my wish list
Fisher, Joeckel, Floyd, Milliner — as non bust non injury guarantee above average starters

That is the ? do you think thats who they really want and dont want to meet with him or you think they are trading down or trading for someone on an NFL team. It will be interesting come Draft Day.

I think Milliner is higher on the Eagles’ wish list than my wish list. I believe Milliner is top two on Jeff, Howie, and Chip’s wish list behind Luke Joeckel. I don’t think the Eagles have any intentions to trade and want a top 4 talent.

There was reports that the Eagles tried various trade proposals with Arizona involving Kevin Kolb and other assets with the Eagles trying to get their hands on Patrick Peterson in the Lock out year. Milliner is a serious Eagle draft target.

He’s going to be a good, all-around CB, but not #4 pick, or the caliber of Patrick Peterson, or Morris Claiborne. This is a smokescreen, to drum up interest in trade partners. Kelly already spoke to him, at the combine. Also, the Senior Bowl, I believe. This is getting interesting.

Morris Claiborne has a very shaky Rookie Season and word is still out if he will ever be a legitimate Pro-Bowl CB in the NFL and has not lived up to the hype..Plus th Cowboys traded a 2nd ROund PIck in this Years Draft to move up last year to get him..

I would’nt be mad if the Birds took D Mill. The man is built like a monster. Standing at 6,1 200 lbs. The man also ran a 4.31 at the combine. The man is physical and has long arms and legs to go along with it.

Do not be surprised if you see Philly take Tyrann Mathaeiu in the 2nd or 3rd round. I know he has had offseason issue with marijuana, but the kids work ethic is out of the world. He will be an probowl caliber player. Bank on it. MAYBE not his 1st year, but eventually.

My Mock Draft Rounds 1-3

Round 1 – Eric Fisher
Round 2 – Matt Elam/ Johnny C/ Kenny Vaccaro
Round 3 – Tyrann M

This cancellation probably means that a Deal/Trade with the NY Jets is done in principal which will involve QB Nick Foles, DE Cole, WR J Avant and probably Safety Kurt Coleman to the NY Jets in exchange of 1st Round Picks and CB Darrell Revis and maybe a future Jet’s Draft Pick.. You heard it here first..

I don’t see this happening, mainly because that trade has so little value for the Jets or any other team in the league. Coleman has no value, Avant has next to no value, Cole has very little value, and Foles is an unknown that will likely never amount to anything.

If it does come true, I’ll admit that Paulman is the master of the universe.

It won’t, so don’t worry about it. Nick Foles will not be apart of any trade deal. If they do trade with the Jets, (that is possible) it won’t include Foles.

NY Jet’s need bodies for this year big time or HC Rex Ryan will be out of a job.. They have no Cap Room until Revis is gone and need a DE [Pass Rusher (Cole is better than anyone on thier Current Rroster) and 3rd WR (Avant is better than any WR on their Roster)) and a QB (Foles is better than anyone on their Roster) and who new OC Marty Morhnerwig likes and can get up to speed in a hurry . Even a 8-9 Win Season from the Jets with QB Foles at the helm and show some improvement and looking like a future Starter may be enough to save Rex Ryans Job which is why tihs will happen.. Coleman is simply a throw in as again the Jets need bodies

Yeah i say overall in 5 years if the Good Lord doesn’t Tarry Dee will have a better career then Claiborne an possibly Patrick Peterson what Peterson has is that he can return kickoffs an punt returns but after a while you have to play your proper position. And though those other 2 are good i see Dee Milliner being the better of the 2. Dee M. looks like what Desean would look like if he was a 6’2 200 lbs WR. they look almost alike.
CB will be addressed we shall see.

Eagles Mock Draft (#84)

1st Rd (#4) OT Eric Fisher (Central Michigan 6-7 315lbs)
2nd Rd (#35) DT Jesse Williams (Alabama 6-4 325lbs)
3rd Rd (#67) Center Brian Schwenke (California 6-3 315lbs)
4th Rd (#101) CB Leon McFadden (San Diego State 5-10 195lbs)
5th Rd (#136) RB Kenjon Barner (Oregon 5-9 200lbs)
7th Rd (#210) DE/OLB Mike Buchannan (Illinois 6-6 255lbs)
7th Rd (#212) Guard Jeff Baca (UCLA 6-4 305lbs)
7th Rd (#218) Safety Robert Lester (Alabama 6-1 220lbs)
7th Rd (#239) TE Zack Sudfeld (Nevada 6-7 253lbs)

Eagles focus on the OL & DL which is the Strength of this Draft Class

I like this mock draft paulman as it is more realistic, do you think Leon McFadden will be a backup depth a starter or be a nickel like Boykin. Kenjon will be 3rd string up until he surpasses bryce brown but they are staying with 3 RBs he will not surpass Mccoy except in case of injury. I say we finish 9-7 10-6

McFadden will beback-up in 2013 but I believe is one of the hidden gems in this CB Class (Josh Johnson from Purdue is another one)
Has a strong Lower Body, Good Hips and Pivot ability hips and explodes to the ball and is Physical.. He’s 5-10″ and a solid 195lbs but plays bigger than his size and has great leaping ability and good hands from what I have seen of him..
Center kelce not ready to about June and his lack of strength concerns me moving forward, Center Schwenke can play Center/Guard and Chip Kelly is very familiar and stataed he was the Best Center on the West Coast and played for a up-tempo Offense at University of Cal..
I believe Schwenke will compete at both Guard/Center and be a starter my mid-late Season and then take over Center Spot come 2014 as Kelce will be on his way out

Paulman,
Not bad, not bad. I have them taking big, rangy DE Margus Hunt, 6-8, 277, from SMU in rd 2. They have DT’s and not enough quality at 5-technique. DE’s are too small. This guy is the type Kelly wants on the line at DE. A 3-4 fit, still somewhat raw, but I see a potential stud here. I also like Joe Kruger in rd 7 over Michael Buchanan, whose arms are too small and he lacks bulk (lost weight-down to 247). Kruger played with Star Lotulelei and is 6-6, 269, with long arms and room to add bulk. You still want Buchanan? Nah!

paulman
paulman
April 12, 2013 4:00 pm

Buchannan is more of a OLB at the NFL Level and not a DL..He’s not Strong, big enough, but is very athletic and a cheaper version of Dion Jordan
I see him as a pass rusher from the OLB spot to groom for 2014 when both
Trent Cole and Brandon Graham will be gone for neither are good fits for the 3-4 Scheme.. I see him as a Whitney Mercilus Type where you stand him up, move his around, cover TE’s on occassion but mostly used to get into the backfield

paulman
paulman
April 12, 2013 4:04 pm

I do like Margus Hunt alot and can see him develop a little like a JJ Watt but not as Strong as Watt is, but long, quick and a finisher..
DT Jesse Willaims could be a DE and play that 5-Technique and chose him for he can play NT,DT in a 4-Man Front or out a DE in a 3-4 Front
Kelly and DC Davis are going to Draft and want as much Versatility from their Def Front 7 which is why I like both DT Williams and OLB Buchannon Selected

I’ve been on Jesse’s bandwagon, since the College season ended. Perfect 5 technique DE, & strong enough to be a NT. Like Hunt a little, but he’s very raw, & will be overdrafted. Buchanan can be a late round/undrafted gem, but he’s a natural 4-3 DE. He can’t cover as a 3-4 OLB, & would be a rotational, situational, pass ROLB.

(Eric Fisher at RT from Day 1) and 4 Players who will be rotational contributors., back-ups and Special Team Players in their Rookie Season and 3 Players who will compete as Starters in 2014 (Williams, Schwenke & McFadden) along With a promising Scat Back//Returnnan in Barner..
The 7th Round Picks in Buchannan,, Lester & Baca & TE Sudfeld will all have Opportunities at Pisitions where there is a need for quality Depth
Or Pratice Squad Players..

I like Hunt or Young Kruger in rd 3 if avail. I was high on Jesse Williams but at a second glance he may not be able to play DT in a 3-4 if needed and you want that versatility with that high of a pick in rd 2. he is strong up top but he has no ass to get that proper push. I think SF will take him to play DE at the end of rd 1. If we can get a starting OL it can be a guard or OT and an impact player on D I think this is a great start to a regime.

As a Pass-Rusher..

Warmack, Fluker and probably one of the most versatile OL in the Draft in Barrett who played Center, Guard and even OT during his Alabama Career
I do like Warnack and Barrett and sold on Fluker who is a little too big and soft spread as a 23 year old and afraid of his conditioning to play in a up tempo style that Eagles will likely emply..

I think a starting O-lineman cad be picked in rd 2 or 3 but you have to be lucky to get an impact defensive player that late. Barrett would be an excellent pick up bc of his versatility and we have a line that is not sure who will be where bc of kelce coming off a knee, or if they are giving Watkins a second chance ect. I guy like Barrett who can play C too would be nice especially if we can get him in rd 3 which I doubt. if that’s the plan you can go Jordan in rd 1 DT or qb rd2 and OL rd 3. I don’t think our o-line is bad enough to pass on impact players or a franchise qb. especially if the organization is realistic about its chances next year. besides a more balanced attack and less predictability should help the o-line anyway. We should draft the pieces that are harder to obtain first. only way this should change is if Luke or Fisher are looking at you at 4 only two guys I would not be mad at.

I don’t see the Eagles going after a QB at all in this Draft
They kep Vick around, have Foles under Contract for a couple of years
Then signed Dixon and Kinnie and still have Edwards under Contract
How many developmental QB’s do they need..I still think they will
Look to trade Foles if they can get a 2nd Arounder in Return for him
But I hope he stays around and say No to Geno Smith, Barkley, Manuel
And the rest who are 2 Years away at best of doing anything

Paulman,
If we trade Foles, Cole, Avant and Coleman to the Jets for Revis I will make you GM of the Iggles when I buy them. (I have to win two Powerballs for that to happen.) Cole, Avant and Coleman are done. Foles has potential but I would trade him for a pro bowl corner. That said, I am high on Foles potential, but I am not sure he will have a chance in Chip’s offense. He has better field awareness and decision making than Vick. People put too much emphasis on f
qb foot speed in Chip’s offense – decision making and accuracy are more important. I would trade all of our draft picks if we were guaranteed a franchise QB. Vick is not going to get it done. Geno Smith? maybe. I’d rather pick a sure thing in the first round (one of the OTs) and then pick EJ Manuel in round two and take a chance on another QB late (Matt Scott?). QB is so important, but there are not Luck/RG3 in this draft. With so many holes, I’d rather have an OT that will play for 10 years.

Just saying, I think anyone saying he blows is basing their opinion(which they are entitled too) off literally nothing.
But regardless, absent some kind of injury/regression, Bridgewater/Boyd/Johnny all seem like much better prospects than anyone in this draft. I could also see Chip wanting to draft Braxton Miller also.

i totally agree with you DCar. Manziel, is deserving of everything he earns in COLLEGE Football, That doesn’t always translate to the NFL. That is what some don’t understand, when it comes to evaluating NFL Prospects.

Other than Cam Newton, how many Heisman Trophy Winning QB’s have started, and won a Superbowl,(obviously Newton hasn’t won one), or even had successful NFL Careers thus far?………..

I think Johnny Manziels career will be no different. Cool COLLEGE player, average NFL Pro.There are better choices as Pros in next year’s draft such as mentioned Teddy Bridgewater, Taj Boyd –

but I am scouting – Logan Thomas, Virginia Tech, and David Fales, San Jose State. Two BIG, strong armed, fast, and mobile QB’s, much better talented than EJ Manuel, and more accurate, and consistent, which is Manuals achilles heel, and why I compare him to JaMarcus Russell, and I think he is a wasted pick not just for the Eagles but for every team in the NFL.

If I was GM, the player that I would target in next years draft would be, Austin Safarin- Jenkins, TE, University of Washington.

Richcow, You are are right about Foles, and Paulman. Like most “fan trades” ,, they never ask if they would do the trade if they were the other team. Why would the Jets want a back-up safety like Coleman, an aging Cole, and Avant – this draft has a ton of WRS. If we trade Foles, then Vick would be our only vet option at QB – assuming we replace him with a draft choice. If the Eagles trade back, it will be with Detroit, Arizona, San Diego, or Miami.(for one of the OTs).

Jets are the Team,There is no way that CB Revis stays with them,
What other Team can afford his Contract outside of the Eagles??
What do the Jets need Players wise..
A young QB, a Pass-Rusher, a Reliable slot WR, and a Safety
Maybe the Eagles send Foles to reunite with OC MM and has a low Rookie Deal Salary wise, a Trent Cole who simply does not fit into the new Eagles 3-4 Scheme (or a Brandon Graham but I don’t believe will give him up)
A Jason Avant & Nate Allen
The AFC is pretty open with only the Pats, Broncos
Definite Pkayomff Teams,
Ravens and Texans lost lots of Players,
Steelers have their weakest Roster in years
And have no Playmakers on Offense
So the Hets add 3-4 Starters for Revis with the prospects of a young
QB in Foles is really not a bad deal from the Jets and HC Ryan perspective..
HC Ryan will find himself fired if he doesn’t turn things around for the Jets this Season..

Or adding Jeremy Maclin to that deal, for the #9 pick, where you can draft a

It will take more than Foles to get Revis from Jets who have holes all over their Roster.. GM Roseman wants to make a big splash over Draft Weekend and the Jets need to get rid of Revis Contract and need bodies to step in and play for them right away for Rex Ryan to have any chance of keeping his job..
They cut 4-5 Starters due to Salary Cap, list another few players via Free Agency in Shonn GreenC Dustin Keller and La Ron Kandry and have very few playmakers and open Positions all acreoss the board on their Team

The Jets also have some serious cap issues. It starts with Revis, then they are still in a bind with Santonio Holmes contract, D’Brickashaw Ferguson has to be given a new deal, and I thought they were still paying some players that are no longer on the team, but still count against their cap.

It’s in their best interest to make a trade, and or trade out of the first round altogether.

Getting rid of Revis this Year shaves off $15 Million
Then by adding QB Foles to replace Sanchez by 2014 saves them another $16 Million.. The 4Eagke Players I listed in Trade
(Cole, Avant, Allen & Foles) combined don’t make $15 Million
So Cap issues are not a detriment to this Deal happening
And meanwhile the Jets fill 4 Positions

The scenario has some merit. Jets need a new QB. Alegedly it was MM who pushed hard for Foles in the the Eagles draft room.

Jets will be trading Revis….everyone in league know it so his value is diminished.

It comes down to the Jets….do they want picks from TB which they will use for a QB, or a QB from the Birds? If they feel FOles is better (for them) than any of the QBs in this draft, then a deal with the Ealges makes complete sense.

I don’t think it is going to happen….but it is plausible.

The big advantage is that the Jets need 3-4 Quality NFL Players who can contribute right away for HC Ryan and since the Eagles have new schemes and new Coaching Staff, there are probably 5-6 Players right now on the Eagkes Roster that simply don’t fit what Kelly wants (Trent Cole, Jason Avant,
Possibly Brett Celek & Nate Allen) see TB Bucs gutted their Roster last off season with Players that HC Schiano didn’t think were good fits so the Eagles have the Cap Space, Players to Trade and a QB who knows OC MM System and could hit the ground running which is why I think A blockbuster with the Jets can very well happen
Eagles and Jets can flip flop 1st Round Selections and then package Players like Cole, Avant, Allen and possibly Celek for CB Revis and a future Jet Draft Pick..

The Ea

Vinnie, if Celek is part of the deal, then your TE could be selected in the 2nd Round, do renember that Jets lost TE Dustin Keller in Free-Agency
And have no legitimate TE on their Roster???
Eagles signed TE/FB Casey who Kelly is really high on, so Celek is probably Trade Bait .. Lot’s of moving parts between these 2 Teams, also take in account that New Jets GM is from Seattle who has done some trades in the past (Clemons for Tapp, etc)

I agree with you DCar, about gaining more picks. But you have to trade what we don’t need, and what other teams overvalue, and are still young enough to still develop in their mind. Like Brandon Graham, Jeremy Maclin, Evan Mathis, Trent Cole, Danny Watkins, and you have to add future #1 picks to get another 1st Rounder.

Celek, Foles, Bryce Brown, and Avant are going to be on this team, and play vital roles. If it were up to me, I wouldn’t have signed Connor Barwin either….Jason Babin reincarnated figuratively.

That’s also why you don’t draft Dee Millner, if you have a beat on Revis. You can draft a CB later in the draft like, Blidi Wreh Wilson, and or BW Webb,

The #4 pick should be Eric Fisher, but they need to make a deal for at least one more 1st Round Pick. They seem to be really high on Star Lotululei. I know Paul is skeptical, and I get that, valid concern, but he was cleared by several nfl, and private Doctors….He makes sense.

An ideal front 7 would be:

DE – Fletcher Cox
NT – Jesse Williams
DE – Star Lotululei
OLB – Dion Jordan
ILB – Myckal Kendricks
ILB – Jamie Collins
OLB – Cornelius Washington

Both Jordan and Washington, are fast, aggressive, can rush the QB, and can COVER, as can Kendricks, and Jamie Collins. Stud LB Core!!!

Ziggy Ansah (who also can rush, and cover) is also a possibility, but I put Jordan here because of the Oregon politics. I think either one will do fine.

ESPN New York reports the Jets were — and still are — unhappy with Darrelle Revis’ choice to have the Giants’ team doctor perform the surgery on his knee.
Per beat writer Rich Cimini, the Jets “expressed their disappointment” to Revis and “haven’t let it go.” This has reportedly “chafed” Revis. It’s just the latest dispute between the two sides, and the marriage will end shortly. The Daily News also brought up the Yahoo report stating the Jets could get the Bucs’ first-, third-, and sixth-round picks in the 2013 draft in exchange for Revis.

A lot depends in the GM/Rex Ryan relationship
If GM wants to truly rebuild for the Future,
Than Jete save the $$$ and take Draft Picjs,
If Rex Ryan’s wins the Battle, he wants and needs 3-4 Players in return to help the Jets be competitive in 2013 in a wide open AFC
And save his Job, Coach Ryan likes Veteran Players as opposed to playing a bunch of Rookies.. Jets Rister has a ton of holes
With little NFL Caliber Players on it in at WR, TE, DE, OLZb, and Safety

Plus the TB Bucs don’t have the Xap Space to take Revis’s $15 Million Salary
On for 2013 unless they were to cut some Players
Eagles are one of the Few Teams presently positioned Cap Wise to take on Revis’s Deal which is what is why I think GM Rosenan will pursue
This..

Maybe johnny football wont become a star NFL QB, but i just don’t see the need to draft someone like Geno Smith with our first pick. I know Foles isn’t much of a runner, but the dude is accurate with his throws and looked so comfortable in the pocket last yr. I’ve watched Johnny Manziel and the dude can flat out ball. To me he reminds me of a young Drew Brees
