He was a second round draft pick in the 2005 draft now he's no longer a Philadelphia Eagle. I'm talking about outside linebacker Matt McCoy. He was released yesterday just a day after getting a dumb penalty for hitting the Vikings punter.
I was talking to McCoy last year and he was telling me how he wanted to go to USC when he was coming out of high school but they thought he was too small. Imagine that, Pete Carroll thought he was too small for college ball but the Eagles thought he was big enough to draft in the second round.
They tried to push McCoy into the line up last year and he got bully like a little kid in school He was pushed around once teams realized that they needed to run right at him. I have rarely seen a player get exposed like he was last year on national television when the Colts totallly undressed him. Tight end Dallas Clark practically undressed him while pushing him down the field.
I must admit that I was surprised that the Birds made this move because it's admission that they made a mistake in drafting McCoy in the first place. They used the technique that current Comcast Executive David Cohen said he and current Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell utilized during his time as Philadelphia mayor, release bad news after Eagles wins.
