Eagles wide receiver Riley Cooper made the mistake of using the N-word and somebody was taping him with their smart phone. Cooper was at the Kenny Chesney concert at Lincoln Financial Field with teammate Jason Kelce and a number of friends. It seems like he was in some type of altercation before the video occurred.
Cooper who seemed to be agitated after the altercation, points toward the camera and says“I will jump that fence and fight every nig… in here, bro.”
The video has been made public and since then Cooper has Tweeted an apology for using that word.
“I am so ashamed and disgusted with myself. I want to apologize. I have been offensive. I have apologized to my coach, Jeffrey Lurie, and Howie roseman and to my teammates. I owe an apology to the fans and to this community. I am so ashamed, but there are no excuses. What I did was wrong and I will accept the consequences.”
Cooper is currently starting for the Birds at one of their wide receiver positions after Jeremy Maclin suffered an ACL tear in his right knee.
Cooper should be treated as Paula Dean was treated…goodbye! – the City, and the Eagles can live without Riley Cooper.
What? that is knee jerk over reaction. There is only one side of the story out there. We don’t know what caused him (besides the alcohol) to react like this. What did the security guard (who is paid to keep the peace and de-escalate drunks) say? I don’t know and neither does anyone else.

As much as it may seem like an over reaction to cut him, you need to understand that these types of actions are not tolerated in today’s society and Riley Cooper should face a serious punishment. Being a white male, I feel like saying the “N-word” in a demeaning manor is disgusting especially since he is surrounded by black people every day. That word shouldn’t even be in his vocabulary. your absolutely right. the Qb of the team embodies more than just who can run the offense. the team looks to Vick to answer the tough questions or to stand up and speak to the team. Your play is a huge part of it but if things are close that factor will give Vick another edge. Foles is a gamer tho you can’t count him out, but it looks as Vick is the starter/leader in every aspect. Personally Vick has matured way past who he was years ago and still learning while going through this “competition” but it is making him step up in other areas that he was lacking before. I would have to agree, tsjohnson5. If there is one thing that became very clear during this disturbing situation, is that Vick is clearly a leader in that locker room. I read his comments and they were the comments of a man who has the respect of the players and one who is interested in protecting the team. I would have to believe that Kelly will take this into account when he evaluates all of the on-field play. Not to say that Foles cannot become a leader, but Vick has proved it in the past and again here during a mess of a situation. He could of easily said “no comment” and let the media keep stirring this volitile controversy. He even had to chastise his brother for a heated tweet. I am not always of fan of what Vick has done on the field over the past few years, but there is no question that he has strong leadership skills and he has a strong presence in the locker room….now if he can only stay healthy and cut down on turnovers we could have a QB for Kelly’s Eagles.

Its the NFC champ game against TB. I’m in the first row at the 20 yard line or so. TB side of the field. Ja Rule was halftime entertainment (important).

The way he used it wasn’t in the manner in which it is used in “slang” terms (without the ‘er’, you clearly hear the ‘er’)But being a teammate for the last few years I’d give him the benefit of the doubt. As long as I didn’t have a reason or some sort of vibe throughout the years of being his teammate, it would be water under the bridge. He does a lot of peaces that do a very good job on offering perspective when it comes to race. He is a black guy that is often called a racist.
