Final Thoughts
Jonathan Papelbon isn’t exactly the most popular guy in town, but ever since blowing his first save opportunity of the year, he’s been rock solid.
Papelbon has now converted six straight save opportunities, and has given up no runs and only three hits in his last seven appearances. He may be a jerk, a fool, and a loudmouth, but give the guy some credit. He’s been doing his job as of late, and he’s been converting a lot of difficult, one-run saves.
The Phillies are on a bit of a roll right now, and they’ll get Cole Hamels back for tonight’s game. With A.J. Burnett and Cliff Lee pitching at a high level, the addition of Hamels could really make this rotation a serious strength for this club.
when Burnett rounded the bases to score his fellow pitchers were laughing at Burnett in good fun. So were the annoucers. A.J. didn’t get the win but he earned it.
Let’s go Hamels!
