Same Negative Steve

From Steve, Come on G, I know Mcnabb had four TD's and no interceptions, but let's be real.  He had an average game, in reality.  Do you know for a fact that he audibled into the shovel pass, or was it a called play from the sidelines?

I only ask because I didn't see mention of him audbiling anywhere.  He made a bad throw on the first drive to Tapeh in the ground, but was bailed out when the Skins got a penalty that kept the drive going.  He made a horrible high throw before the half to Reggie Brown, which cost us a FG.  He missed Hank Baskett on an easy 2 pt conversion that 85% of the QB's in this league would have made.  And how can you POSSIBLY give him credit for the Brown throw.  He didn't intend it, and even if he did, you don't throw into double coverage.  He got lucky because the Skins one defender fell down, and Brown made a sick catch.  Twice on 3rd down, he threw to guys short of the marker and we were forced to punt.  Early in the game, he missed Curtis deep, not throwing the ball on time.  When he finally did throw it, Curtis wasn't as open, and he threw the ball inaccurately.  It showed his lack of vision.  And then there is the fumble holding onto the ball too long after the turnover.
He was accurate on the screen pass…big deal.  I could be accurate on a 10 foot throw.  It still took about 5 blocks to spring Westbrook, and if he doesn't get in, we all know Mcnabb would have choked probably inside the 20.

Mcnabb ran the ball well and looked much more agile, but his decision making and accuracy continue to be questionable.  The Skins also dropped 2 INT's…After seeing him run on Sunday, I don't think he can use the knee as an excuse much longer.  He didn't play awful, but stats don't tell the story in this Washington game.  Most all those completions were of the dink and dunk variety.

Stephen,

First of all the first statement you made shows you that you don't know anything about football.  All plays aren't created equally in football.  For instance, if a defensive linemen plays so for 45 plays but manages to play good or great on 4 plays and gets sacks on all of those plays would you say he played average.  It's true that things worked out for McNabb in that game but it's because he executed on the 4 pass plays which went for touchdowns.  Do you realize that were he to do that in every game, the Eagles might be undefeated.  You could have a player who only plays four plays but winds up either throwing or scoring 4 touchdowns then you can't tear the guy's head off.  Yes his missed throws in the game and I pointed that out, but he more than atoned for it with the 4 touchdown passes.  None of those throws that he missed were as big as the ones he made.  Plus he only missed 8 throws which exposes how negative you are and much of the media in Philly.

The truth is that you're rooting against Donovan.  It bothers me that because he decides to speak his mind, you decide what he should say, like he's some little boy.  Plus he's a guy with a track record of winning.  Some criticism is about football while some of it is nothing but personal.  I've always loved sports and especially football, but sometimes some of the criticism of McNabb is poisonous, there's something wrong with it because it comes from people who claim to be rooting for him.

As for the audible on the shuffle pass to the Westbrook, on the tape you can see McNabb bark a command then turn around and make sure the backs have got out of the I formation.  It looked like an audible to me.  Plus I don't care what else happened on the play because the bottomline was that it ended with a touchdown pass from McNabb to Westbrook.  He executed the play and it went for a touchdown.  Unfortunately for you McNabb haters, you can't take that away from him.
