Eagles-Redskins Preview

matthewsAre you ready for some “Saturday” football? The feeling going into week 16, confident that the Eagles will win, worried about the outcome of the other games that dictate our fate in making the playoffs.

The Washington Redskins are our opponent. This team much like the Chicago Bears has made headlines in the world of social media for player and coaching issues. First year head coach Jay Gruden has called out RG3 in public display that is typically handled behind closed doors. The team has really failed this season, and when you have no shot of making the playoffs, you enjoy running the likelihood of one of your divisional rivals.

The game against the Redskins earlier this season came against a different starting quarterback for both teams. Our offensive line was in complete disarray, we couldn’t manage to get any running game going.

We came out victorious, and much was made of the toughness demonstrated by Nick Foles. As the season shaped out, the Redskins have are starting a quarterback that they wanted to no linger start but Colt McCoy got injured, and questions spiral with who will even return for 2015 between RG3 and Gruden. All of that drama which former Eagle Desean Jackson has slowly worked himself into; none of that matters, the Eagles need to simply take care of business and win the football game.

OFFENSE

The Redskins have used three different quarterbacks this season, and it will be RG3 this week. D-Jax torched us for a long TD in the previous matchup, and I’m sure would like nothing more to repeat an end-zone dance again. Garcon had his best game of the season against the Eagles. Morris is still a very nice running back to contend with, and the Redskins have been going with the healthy body at the tight-end spot all season. Their offensive attack against the Eagles will be to attack the secondary. I expect play-action and deep pass attempts to D-Jax, and Garcon getting the ball in space. Morris will get his touches, and RG3 is still a threat to run which always gives the Eagles problems.

The Eagles offense has not been clicking the last two weeks. Sanchez catches a break with a very weak secondary and should be able to feed Maclin all day; I expect a monster game for Maclin. McCoy, what to expect this point with how the season has gone, we know he will get his share of touches, but what will he do with them. The tight-ends are hit or miss on a weekly basis, and Matthews will every the opportunity to be involved in the passing game this week with the attention Maclin will get. I’m done with Cooper on the field; I need to see more of Huff. He was a third round pick and needs to show a more polished knowledge with his route running.

DEFENSE

The Redskins are really good against the run, have stopped many talented backs for poor days at the office. The Redskins are not so good against the pass, they are actually quite terrible, and the Eagles passing game should open up holes for McCoy to run through.

The Eagles defensive line and line backers continue to perform on a week to week basis. Jenkins in the secondary has had a nice season; but I’ve seen him in coverage enough to not give him a “good” season label. The rest of the guys in the secondary, including the regression all but drop-off in playing time with Boykin, I fear their abilities on a weekly basis. They have been exposed or called for too many penalties for me to really believe they are good enough to hold up throughout the course of a game.

PREDICTION

The Eagles know they have to win out. They can only take care of their business and not worry about what the other teams in front of them in the standings are doing. They win Saturday; they give themselves light at the end of the tunnel that playoffs are still alive.

24 points?

No way Washington scores 24 points.

I fully expect this to be a bloodbath. With our guys teeing off RG3 all day.

Don’t be surprised if we lose these last 2 games! I won’t be. Sanchez, Cooper, underutilized TE’s, underutilized receptions from the backfield, horrid secondary, & MLB issues = Uh oh!

These last two games are all about Kelly’s program. If the Eagles lose these games it does not bode well for the future. Teams that are building toward something great in the future always finish strong.

Washington’s secondary is worse than the Eagles, they got nothing back there. There safeties are slow, very slow. ( whoevers enters their area catches it)
Ryan Kerrigan was a sack machine in the first game, Lane Johnson will have his hands full. Washington is getting better production out of their 2nd round OLB Trent Murphy than Philly is Marcus Smith but Murphy should be an easy block for Jason Peters today with Orakpo hurt as usual.

Dolphins are at Home versus the Vikings who has a very young,
Active Defense but can be run against..
McCoy has not had great games versus the Redskins..
and Coach Keely appears to be favoring Polk when in close probably negating McCoy’s chances for TD’s
I take Dolphins Miller for FF this week..

This game will be trouble if the eagles can’t run

Sanchez will be pressured and he will fold

Remember the beating foles took, no way Sanchez holds up

This will be a close game and low scoring

I don’t believe the Eagles can effectively unless
They can come out throwing with success to back up their LB’s
And Safeties..coming out and running left, running right McCoy
Plays right into the strengths of the Redskin Defense
Open it up, take some shots, try a flea-flicker with Brad Smith tossing the ball
Get their Front 8 on their heels and pooped out,
Then gash them with the Run in the 2nd half to out them away..
If they have Sanchez pass on obvious passing downs only,
They are in trouble..

Forgot the “effectively Run the Ball” until
They prove they can move it thru the air”
They & Haslett will have 8 in the Box on
Early downs and dare the Eagles to Pass
And until Sanchez can make a few Passes down thr
Field and I don’t mean bombs,
But those intermediate throws from 12-25 yards
Then it will be difficult to run it..
Vice versa for Eagles Defense vs RG3
Dare him to beat you with his arm, quick reads and accurate throws

GCobb was on the radio this morning and shared why Marcus Smith has not seen any playing time this year with only 60 snaps all year including special teams. He said his people close to the situation said that Marcus Smith doesn’t like contact. He is a LB who doesn’t like contact.lmao. He stated someone in the organization needs to step up and explain how you can take a 1st round LB who is timid and scared to hit. lol. I told you on all his “highlights from Louisville he was arm tackling the QB on his sacks. Unbelievable. You cant teach heart he said.

So many intriguing story lines in the next hour will begin to unfold…the run game ,which takes the pressure off Sanchez ,will need be respectable …if it’s dominant the game will be a lot easier for us,eagle fans to watch and enjoy ..I need see a dominant performance ..something to ride into the next game vs the Giants who must battle a very punishing ram defense …they’ve been the most under the radar defense of late …the cowboys …haven’t played from ahead ,it will be interesting to watch..that pressure at home ,where they are very pedestrian …under my tree I see an NFC back to back championship ….GO FLY …ZONE

DAG ..jury’s still out on smith ..to be real, they’ve jerked him around more than an addicted porn browser..too much is always expected ,of a number one ..validation might be a glimpse today as he should get consistent snaps ..it’s the organization who needs him to move around ,let him settle in to one role ,and then ,well be better able to see

Pman ..omg that’s a scary proposition…I see the same way a as you ,to beat these skins is up over the top…I just don’t know in an elimination game ,as this is,chip will trust him that much..it will be interesting also to see if Davis plays safety help on desean and then pick his poison with garçon …that is another scary proposition..the best way to attack RG3 is to put him down ,and keep his eyes moving while running ..on the game ball side ..I see a balanced attack…with cooper winning the one on one battles he’s lost all year long..he’s plus 300 as a prop bet to score …think of the desert man …hoping I cash that ..

I believe that’s one of Kelly issues here lately is that he’s not been bold and aggressive which is his nature..
Right now with 2 Games left and Mudt Wins,
Caution and Short Leashes should go out the Window
Attack,Attack, Attack should be his Game Plan
Also take note that it’s important he resets blushed this
Aggressive game plan to the rest of the Team not only
For these next 2 weeks, but set the tone for the Future
