When the league handed out the suspension to Tom Brady to start the 2015 season, my initial thought was disappointment that the Eagles weren’t one of those first four opponents instead of the Dallas Cowboys. And then I started to think of how I saw the situation playing out, and realized there was no way that Tom Brady, the “golden boy” of the league would serve his entire suspension.
Four games had to be the starting point, and it’s much easier to reduce the length of a suspension rather than adding games to the initial verdict. Tom Brady had never been in trouble prior to last season, the “Patriots” had been, but Brady was always disconnected, he could do no wrong.
With the recent decision to reduce the ten game suspension of former Carolina Panther and now Dallas Cowboy Greg Hardy down to four games, the “nature” of his offense compared to that of Tom Brady is going to become the target of focus. By no means were the acts related by any means, once was off the field and non-football related, and one was all about the integrity of the game.
Greg Hardy, found guilty of assaulting a former girlfriend and threatening to take her life, was defined as “conduct detrimental to the league” by the NFL. With Hardy set to miss four games for his acts against a woman, how can one expect Brady to see the same penalty for his acts against a football?
If Hardy saw his suspension time reduced by 60% then I expect a greater number of games dropped from the initial suspension handed out to Brady. His acts were wrong; he cheated and lied.
With all of that said; whether you or I agree with the penalty that was originally handed out to him as the result of “Deflategate,” I envision that Brady will only miss the season opener against the Steelers once all is said and done.
I say Brady gets 2 Games at most…
NFL chasing ghosts, he gets 0 games. there is no evidence to directly tie him to the act so he isnt getting suspended. nfl front office is a fucking joke, hardy suspension getting reduced what a disgrace
