Whether Chip Kelly has the “human” characteristic necessary to learn from his first season as both general manager and head coach is something I’m not certain of anymore. I’m not confident that Chip can be vulnerable enough to adapt to what the NFL game requires. He continues to rely on what made him successful at the college rank and has demonstrated an arrogance that gets under the blue collar of Eagle fans. The need to have players act and respect him as a coach, it’s crossed the line from being disciplined to it being all about Chip Kelly.
There have been some credible decisions made by Chip, but even the few areas that he has been correct assessing are hidden underneath all that has gone wrong so far in 2015. To make matters worse, listening to the majority of what Chip Kelly says to the media feels insulting with the answers being given. No longer is their humor. The media isn’t laughing, I can’t honestly say the last time I laughed at something he said. When the team isn’t winning, some type of accountability needs to be conveyed to the fan base, with an effort to be honest.
To me, there is absolutely no chance that Chip is fired in the off-season, or that his general manager title is stripped. The only way Chip is leaving Philadelphia is because he made the decision to leave.
It would be interesting to tally the votes and see if the majority of fans want him back in 2016. Even if the team finds itself in the playoffs in a weak NFC East, it’s feeling more and more like Eagle fans are comfortable severing ties after just three seasons.
The only hope is that Tennesee really wants him to reunite with Mariota. If that is the case in the immortal words of Buddy Ryan ” I would trade him for a six pack “
The look on Howie Roseman’s face when he announces that he got a 2ND rounder for chip Will be classic. I bet he is fist pumping with every loss.
The best thing for the NFL and the eagles would be to trade chip to Tenn.
Chip Kelly would have to leave on his own and leave too much $$$ on the Table so that’s not happening…
Owner Lurie is not the type of Owner/Businessman to buy out Kellys Final 2 Years Of his Contract at $13-$14 Million and pay him not to Coach..
I see a couple changes to his Staff (WR & Possilby OC Shurmur)
But their real issue lies with their OL which has become a real weak Unit
Peter’s is at the end of the line and should not be counted on… Alan Barbre has been the most Consistent Player in my opinion while Kelce was always overrated and Lane Johnson is up and down while Tobin & Kelly are just Not NFL Starting Caliber Talented Players…
Their WR Corp is also one of the Weakest in all the NFL ..
Someone has to make Plays down the field and who among the Eagles is going to provide this?
The Eagles Current Offence without big playmakers of the past has to rely on 8-10-12 Play Drives which are clean, penalty and negative play free and with a high level of execution to score 7 Pts and they simply don’t have the Leadership, Talent or Horses up Front to make it work
A middle of the Road Offense along with a middle of the Road Defense and Average Special Teams makes you an Average Team which is exactly what the Eagles are midway thru the 2015 Season and now Players are starting to ramble about their lack of Opportunities (Sproles, Barner, Huff, Etc)
Stay Tuned for this likely gets uglier before it gets better..
First let me say I’m not a chip fan- I was in for McCoy with Bradley my second choice. That said, I am a fan of the eagles and hoped (still hope) that he does well. I don’t see him going anywhere in the near future.
On another note remember when fraudman said that Mariotta couldn’t take a snap from center or operate in a huddle???? guy continues to show he knows nothing about sports.
No HAC, what I remember and actually stated is that it would take him a couple of Seasons to adjust to the NFL Game as it does for all Young QB’s and Rookies for that matter and not that he wouldn’t be able to do it which is a big different…..
He’s played better than expected on a bad team which is good for him and still got their Coach Fired halfway thru the Season which was weird . .. Let’s see Mariota take that next as more and more Teams have Game Tape/Film on him as he progresses, but by all indications, both he and the TB Bucs J Winston have handled themselves pretty good in their Rookie Season where there are a lot of expectations and eyes on them so both Teams have to be happy with what they have at QB moving Forward just like the Raiders/Vikings & Jaguars are with their young QB’s..
Browns said they will play Johnny Football the remainder of this Season to see if he will be their QB moving forward or not…
No one doubted Mariota’s Football IQ,or Work Ethic, but he still has lots to improve on and still struggles pushing the ball down the field which you have to do to keep NFL Offense’s honest..
And I hope the Tennessee Titans call Eagles Owner Lurie and offer him a great deal for Chip Kelly and get is over-bloated & hyped ass out of Philly…
You actually stated that because he never ran under center or from a huddle that the only team he could play for or have value to is the eagles. I pointed out that middle schoolers learn to run a huddle and take a snap in 30 minutes… this is the time frame you were predicting him to drop in the draft…
I haven/’t seen many ‘trust the process’ sixers fans lately… looks like we get another ROY award…. so lets get this straight… we have 2 (oops its only 1) ROY’s plus a high pick in Noel and we can’t win a game???? interesting..
I wish Mariota well as he is a very mature and likeable Player, but as I stated, He has lots of areas to improve on.. Let’s Give Him 3 Years and see how he Plays and Progresses… Hopefully they gets some more Weapons around him with Good Coaching..
Call me Kool-aide drinker all you want, but I don’t think Chip has done nearly as bad of a job forming this team as most.
Think about it this way, if you were in his shoes and your first two years in the NFL your offense dominated. In fact, they were top five in just about every category that matters. But your defense is just getting roasted left and right. In his mind he likely thought that I need to bolster the defenses at the expense of loosing some on the offensive side of the ball and hope that my scheme can make up for the difference. To me, that is a very rational thought.
Considering that, he has completely remade this defense allocating more resources to that side of the ball (i.e. draft picks, free agents, and extended contracts). The result is a top ten defensive unit that should be strong for years to come. People act like he was only the GM for the offense and had nothing to do with the defense. He completely remade this defense by solving the safety issue which has haunted us since Dawkins, and created a dominate front seven. Plus he has money to sign Bennie and Cox and drafted DeMeco’s replacement to keep that unit in tact.
With respect to the offensive side of the ball I think he made two costly errors – Not drafting an O-Lineman and counting on a rookie WR to make up for Maclin.
Otherwise, he diversified his risk at RB by paying less in guarantees (that group by the way did something that we never did with shady by rushing for f 150+ for four straight) and took a calculated risk with Sam Bradford when he knew Foles wasn’t going to cut it and Marriotta was out of reach. What were his other options? The 2nd round pick hurts but you have Cleveland to thank for that. The guy took a risk with Bradford and we still don’t know if it will pay off.
People complain about Mathis, but our Guard play has not been an issue (save for the first two games of the year and Miami). Kelce is having a down year and it shows. Plus, not having a good back up at Tackle hurts as well.
I agree Kelly screwed up by not drafting a lineman. I can see what he was thinking with the WR position but that was a mistake. However, if he uses that Maclin money to lock up Cox and Logan, and then Nelson becomes a good WR in year two, then it will all be worth it.
Regardless, win these next two and put up a good showing in NE and this fan base will be back. What drives me nuts is that the most vocal part of this fan base is often the most irrational. The radio callers and blog posters go to the extremes so quickly without looking at the big picture. I don’t fault them for it but it drives me nuts.
If The Eagles Lose to the Bucs & Lions which is very possible and the Eagles Season is Over before the final 5 Game Push….
The Bucs are playing much better and have Forced a lot of Turnovers Lately as the Eagles will be Playing QB Mark Sanchez..
The Lions have Won 2 of 3 Games and are always tough to play Thanksgiving Day at their Place where the emotions & energy are always
high..
The Moves that Canttakeitanymore is alluding too still don’t make sense to me.. Shifting Resources from WR to RB when Chip Kelly Fails to address the OL for the 2nd Off-Season in a Row is ludicrous and now the Eagles are paying the Price.. The NFL is about making Big Plays and Chip Kelly got rid of 3 Big Play-makers from this Offense without really replacing any of them
and now has to rely on a Offense that has to execute 8-10-12 Play Drives which is has shown that it is not capable of consistently doing ..
They down have the Horses up Front to control the Line of Scrimmage
They have RB’s that are north and south style backs and Kelly’s Rushing Schemes are sill too horizontal.. The Eagles WR Corps is perhaps the weakest in the NFC, yes the weakest in the NFC behind the Panthers,Seahawks, Bears & Rams… Good Grief but its true..
Kelly Created this Offense and Now has to answer to it and deal with the Consequences… This is not College where you face overmatched Coaching Staffs and less than World Class Athletes in most of your match-ups
You are competing and Coaching against the Best Athletes and Coaching every Week.. How you adjust will determine your fate as a Coach and Right Now, Chip Kelly is 6-10 over his last 16 Games against his NFL Competition
On a Side Note, I’ve never seen the Blogs, Articles so quiet and tempered as I have seen this Season.. Heck even Cowboy Week was very lame…
Whats happened to the Eagles Fan Base.. Have we become numb to average Play and failed expectations… Is is the Fact that the other Philly Sport Teams are all sucking during this same time give the City an air of Doom & Gloom or is there something specifically about Chip Kelly and how he operates that turns us off… Personally, I know that I haven’t been very excited or attached with this Team at all and the biggest reason is that I simply don’t like Chip Kelly Scheme or Personality very much, though I do still support the Team, I really can’t wait until his tenure is over for he’s not made the Team any better and personality wise, I think Kelly is a snake.
I Always Have and Always Will regardless what he does on the Sideline.
Paul – I didn’t say shift resources from WR to RB. I said shift resources from offense to defense (i.e. trade for Kiko, draft defensive players, extend DeMeco, Kendricks, and Graham, sign Maxwell and Thurmond). The defense has benefited greatly because of it.
Regarding the running game, the numbers don’t back up what you are claiming. We have 1056 rushing yards this year and on pace to match our output for 2014. And that is with a ridiculously slow start to the season. He also diversified his risk so we are not relying on one back. If shady got hurt last years our running game would have suffered. this year, if one back goes down we shouldn’t miss a beat. He did all of that and still is allocating less in Guarantees to the position than shady is currently making.
Plus, by taking Heremans and Mathis off the books and not paying Maclin, we have enough to lock up Cox, Logan and Thurmond. Carroll will walk and Rowe will take his place. Those are pretty good moves. We just need to hope that Agehlor turns it up in year two.
The future of the o-line concerns me and that (in my opinion) has been Kelly’s one big mistake. I think Lane will be a fine LT when Peters hangs em up, but then we have no one to step into RT. The guard depth with Tobin, Gardner and Barbre is fine and have performed well this year. Before Gardner got hurt he was grading out as our best O-linemen. Barbre has been our best o-line post Gardner injury. Tobin has done an admirable job off the bench.
I didn’t say to you said that
I stated that Chip Kelly decided to shift Resources from WR to RB for that’s what he did by adding Murray and Matthews and going with unproven Youth and Cheap Players at WR
I believe in your Defense of Kelly that you are too immersed in the Numbers to try to validate what he’s done..
Who cares if the Eagles gain the same amount of Yards or even Gain more Yards on the Ground in 2015 than in 2014 if it means Wining Less Games..
Its all about Winning and Chip Kelly over the last Season worth of Football Games is 6-10 which is not a bad couple of weeks but a Trend of his System not working in my opinion…
I am praying that Sean Peyton gets fired at the end of the season, so Jeffery Lurie will have a better option for head coach with actual NFL Experience.
Chip Kelly, is a College Coach; in the NFL he would perhaps be better positioned to serve as an Offensive Coordinator – and darn sure not anything close to a General Manager……
Josh Huff, Kiko Alonso – 1 year aberration wonder – Taylor Hart, Kenyon Barner – and that’s just on this team. There is a reason you don’t see many successful Oregon Prospects in the NFL, and Chip doesn’t know how to build an NFL Caliber Championship Team….Period
Sean Peyton will likely only take 1 Job and Philly is not one of them….
The Dallas Cowboys for that’s where his Wife and Family Live
Though the Dolphins may offer him full Control which is something he is seeking and would never get with Jerry Jones
Peyton and and Saints GM Micky Loomis have not been on the same page for the last couple of Years as I have stated for a while now and is getting to be a very similar situation which occurred out in San Francisco between HC Harbaugh and GM Trent Balkee which I also called falling apart
Paul, bruh you don’t know that for sure.
If Lurie opened his checkbook, who knows what would be running through Sean Peytons mind…..but he would have to be the choice.
So as a hypothetical situation, you see Owner Lurie buying out Chip Kelly at $13-$14 Million for his last 2 Years from his Contract and then turn around and pay Sean Payton his $6-$7 Million per Seasonwhich he will command? That’s a lot of $$$ to pay … Lurie would never do this !!!
What’s up GMCliff !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Canttakitanymore
Beautiful my man. Your 110% correct that people do not look at the big picture when it comes to this situation and fan base. Were probably the most passionate fan base in the League. And when the love is that high for a team and they come out and play sloppy it breaks your heart. When it comes to the heart most people like to over react and exaggerate on there feelings. Chip kelly is perfect for this city, and most of all hes a great fit for the League. If and when he starts to win with a team he just became the head coach for not even 3 seasons ago… All will change.
CT – Exactly, we are an unbelievably passionate fan base. Which makes me proud to be an Eagles fan. However, passion and clear thought are mutually exclusive. I think most eagles fans are very intelligent and know the game inside and out, aside from a few radio calls that can’t remember who our previous coach was. But it’s impossible to be objective about the Eagles situation when we are as close to it as we are.
I disagree.. too many Fans confuse Passion about Football for Intelligence about Football …
Philly Fans are about the worst when is comes to Over-Hyping their Own Players and Teams and its been that way for Years and Years…
On a SIde Note CT, you may be confusing the New Era of Jeffrey Lurie who is not going to Extend Chip Kelly beyond 5 YEars unless he demonstrates a real, clear path of competing for the Super Bowl… Lurie has learned from the Andy Reid Era that you simply cannot keep the same group in without accountability and Improvement..
Coaching a Team for 3 Years without Positive Result is about all Coach’s get in Today’s Sports World in Any Sport.. Very Few Teams, Owners and fan Bases are going to be patient enough for a 5-6-7 Years Turn around..
Its just not the way it is..
Does anyone on hear clearly believe that the Eagles are a Better Team right now and heading in the right direction then they were last Season or the Season Before ? I don’t .. Not even close..
Every fan base has their group of people that scream and shout about their team but don’t know the difference between a dive and a draw. That doesn’t mean that on a whole we are an intelligent fan base when if comes to the game.
You simply don’t like Kelly so you won’t admit anything he has done that is positive. Of all the coaching candidates that were available the year we hired Chip, he is second to Arians as being the most successful. He has piled up wins while searching for a QB which no coach has done (something Arians did not have to do).
The changes he made this year should have been done in year one. Is he struggling this year, yes, but that doesn’t mean his time with the Eagles has been a failure to date. Whole sale changes on offense take time to come together. There is no way Lurie wants to be the next team that is searching for head coach every three years.
Let me ask you this Paul, since you follow the Panthers, what was being said about Rivera this time last year? Then, his team makes the playoffs, wins a game and is now undefeated.
What that shows you is that the most “intelligent” fan or self-proclaimed “GM” doesn’t know crap about the NFL and should stick to bitching and complaining on message boards.
No I don’t like Kelly but that doesn’t cloud my JUdgement on him as an GM
#1) It was his Decision to make all the the Changes on the Offense last Off-Season when everyone knew that the Defensive Secondary was going to be Overhauled…. So why make so many Changes to an already Competitive Team on both Sides of the Ball when it’s not necessary? Wasn’t the Eagles Offense pretty productive that last 2 Seasons with the Biggest issues being the Turnovers and Red-Zone Scoring Efficiency ? Have they Improved in these Areas? Why is Chip Kelly trying to reinvent the wheel with this Team.. Couldn’t he address the Secondary and Secondary Coach and then Draft to rebuild the Eagles OL & WR Corps? Plus Kelly had about $50 Million to work with in Upgrading the Needs of the Team which besides the Secondary was the OL and Pass Rush .. Where were the Upgrades ?
Kelly’s smart, arrogant ass makes no difference to me if he’s making sound decisions to make the Team better, I just haven’t seen enough of those yet
He didn’t get enough for the McCoy Trade, He gave away a 2nd Rounder in the Bradford Deal which wasn’t necessary, He way Overpaid CB Maxwell & RB Murray to Bad Deals and didn’t address the OL after Releasing 2 Starters… Relying on 3 Young Unproven WR’s in J Matthews, J Huff and Rookie Agholor to be the Playmakers to replace D-Jax/Maclin’s Production
Has a Banged up Ertz and Huff for most of the Summer and doesn’t Utilize Hot Players from Camp/Pre-Season like Try Burton or Kenjon Barner early on while Ertz/Huff get back into shape…
Chip Kelly is still not utilizing RB Darren Sproles Properly and who should be toughing the Ball 12-15 Times a Game between Rushes, Receptions and Returns..
Paul you and the pesky facts.. um including the balls where he is targeted Sproles has 12 touches per game….
As for ‘HOT” players from camp…thats a myth an absolute myth- you with your amatuer eye saw a couple of practices where a guy was ‘hot’ against non-nflers playing vanilla defenses– wasn’t there a guy last year at RB that everyone wanted and he still isn’t doing anything????
sproles has more touches than mathews and only 7 LESS per game than Murray…. damn …paul before blowing hard check football-reference!
Take the 22 Punt Return Attempts out for Sproles and he’s getting about 10 Targets a Game in this Offense — 39 Rushes (4.5 Carries a Game) and 46 Passing Targets (5 per Game) but has 29 Actual Catches so in Reality, he’s produced 7.5 Touches a Game in this Offense which is not enough…
But you just said between ‘catches, rushes and returns he should be getting 12-15 per game’… HE IS! A target is a touch…
He needs 5 More Actual Touches a Game and if that takes 10 more Passes or just better “targeting” to achieve that, than so be it.. Sproles only getting 7.5 Touches a Game is not enough for their only real Offensive Player on the Team..
You keep changing the rules to fit your narrative fraud. Plus increasing his touches would see diminishing returns…
“What that shows you is that the most “intelligent” fan or self-proclaimed “GM” doesn’t know crap about the NFL and should stick to bitching and complaining on message boards.”
I agree 100%
Bitching, moaning, second guessing, complaining, whining, and flip-flopping…
Guys like paulman, vinnie, and others go way over the top when it comes to Kelly because they are professional whiners that dont know much about the NFL
When assessing the Eagles, Chip Kelly has not done a bad job as GM. Has he been perfect…no…but he has done a pretty good job particularly with the defense. Of course, Kelly had to overpay for Maxwell this is what the market dictated but we need corner help, and in the past few weeks Maxwell has played better and our secondary is much better. The moves on defense have worked and we have a solid basis to continue our development on defense. Kelly the GM has to get the nod for selecting Hicks who was playing at an All-Pro level…
On offense, we have had some tough breaks with Peters and Gardner going down…clearly it can be argued that Kelly should have spent some later round picks on offensive lineman but with what was available would they have represented a significant upgrade? We really dont know that and no one argued that Agholor was not the right 1st round pick..another bad break and setback since he got hurt-the emphasis was on the defense like it should have been with Hicks being an excellent pickup in the third round!
As to the offense, He obtained Bradford for a second round pick.when the market dictated that he was worth a first rounder. He threw in Foles with a clear understanding of his true value that we now see since he has been benched much like I predicted.
We have to see how the rest of the year shakes out…the Eagles are still in position to win the division. If we do and make the playoffs after a tough start and key injuries that has to be put in Kelly’s favor. Next year we will have to focus higher round picks on the offensive line and we need to fix the wide receiver position….
So the outlook for the Eagles is a lot brighter than the naysayers would have you believe…again…is Kelly perfect without mistakes NO…but he deserves more credit than what he is getting…only because the loud, shrill cries of the whiners drown out reasonable assessment of the Eagles!
Breezy, that is the dumbest optimistic defense of Kelly as General Manager that I have ever heard.
It is so obvious he is over his head, but you think he has done an admiral job, and those that think differently don’t have a clue???
Wake up bruh, and open your eyes, before you say we don’t know what we’re talking about – then really give thought to how that makes you look – I mean really
He sucks as GM. He’s built a team ready to win a College National Championship, not a SuperBowl.
I’m not even saying he’s done a half way decent job just because they drafted Jordan Hicks, because they could have gotten him in the 4th, because of his injury history. Even Andy Reid would get lucky from time to time…Big deal. How many Superbowls resulted from it???
He loves overdrafting players – Like Josh Huff, and Taylor Hart – who aren’t NFL impact players, and Hart who he wanted draft in the 3rd….and why???….He doesn’t have a clue as to what he is doing.
….He is over his head as GM, and an NFL Talent Evaluator. If you think otherwise then I wouldn’t embarrass myself by speaking outright ignorance on the subject, and calling someone else clueless about the NFL…
JUST ASSININE
Kooltwit with another in a long line of asinine statements:
“We really dont know that and no one argued that Agholor was not the right 1st round pick”
Actually……..After the 3rd round someone said:
“progress”
WR is juiced. Who the fuck cares? WR is irrelevant.
1 OL pick in 3 years is relevant.
QB Bradford, Sanchez and Tebow.
I mean that’s laughable.
But good WRs (maybe) so we’re on track!!!
The 2nd most important area on a team (after QB) is OL.
Chip Kelly has had 3 drafts. 20 picks. 1 offensive lineman.
That’s a joke.
I wonder who said that…..
It certainly wasn’t you, who were lauding the pick, droning on and on about how Agholor was a great pick who could do all that Maclin could, and even more because he was tougher.
You thought picking Agholor was great and said he was better than Maclin.
I thought the pick was useless because WRs should never be taken in the 1st round.
You loved it of course:
“I like our new receiver better than Maclin…He’s more durable, run crisp routes and make YAC….even break tackles.”
oh wait…that was Songs…not “you”….you wrote:
“Agholor has all the same measurables has Maclin with more toughness, more willing to go across the middle, a better punt returner and will get us yards after the catch.”
LOL – KoolSongs.
Kelly is an idiot GM. There have been some decent moves on defense. Do you know why? Because those aren’t his!! He’s getting and taking advice on the D players. Hicks fell into their lap after the run on OL. Kelly himself has admitted Hicks wasn’t the target.
Kelly is an “offensive genius”. He’s putting together that side of the ball and is failing miserably.
Trade for shitty always hurt QB – shitty QB who is hurt
Sign 500 carry back – 500 carry back with jello legs who has been hurt
Sign injury prone backup RB – backup RB injured
Rookie WR to replace vet – doing what majority of rookie WRs do – nothing!
1 addition to oline in 3 years – oline sucks
Every single one of these failed moves was obvious that they would fail from the beginning. Bradford has always sucked. He sucks. Bradford is alays hurt. Bradford is hurt. 500 carry RBs always suck. Murray sucks (and he’s a Cowboy). Matthews is always hurt – Matthews is hurt. WRs rarely contribute. Rookie WR isn’t contributing. Oline is important.
I mean, seriously – is this shit difficult??
Apparently Kooltwit and Kelly think so because neither of them displays any interest or knowledge in these convention and time honoured realities.
I also wrote this 6 months ago:
“Again….we traded a coach who was forever planning but never reacting, for a coach who is forever reacting and never planning.”
Still absolutely true. We’ll be entering the 2016 season after this failed 2015 season with another starting QB as the merry-go-round continues to spin.
“We really dont know that and no one argued that Agholor was not the right 1st round pick??
GMCliff did, and told you he wasn’t Maclin, no matter how much many wanted to believe.
Guys are just overzealous with crowning players he drafts as good players. they do it every year, and get mad when they look silly for thinking that – You’re the ones that bought into Kelly, and got played…
gmcliff…spare me okay
You were the same guy that insisted that Mariota would be a complete bust in the league…and we can all see how badly you were wrong about that kid…
The bottom line is that you have to look at Chip Kelly’s whole body of work as a GM…regardless of where Kelly picked Hicks…the kid was having an All-Pro year before getting hurt…the GM gets credit for that..
The GM gets credit for the solid play of Thurmond at Safety, the improvement of the secondary and a defense that hasn’t been that bad.
The GM gets credit for improving an area we all acknowledged needed improvement….the defense. Maxwell is playing better…
Again…by no means am I claiming that Kelly is perfect…picking up a quality offensive lineman or two would have been great…but funny- no one seems to remember how much emphasis was placed upon us improving our defense…everyone seems to have forgotten about that…
I haven’t! This was a major goal of the oft-season and Kelly the GM improved the secondary…he gets credit for that!
The GM gets credit for getting Bradford who like I said was trending upward and playing better…and getting rid of a bum like Foles who would have been an anvil on our necks if we signed him to a long term contract. Even if you dont like Bradford the GM gets credit for making the right call and not tying us to Foles!
The bottom line is that any fair assessment of Kelly the GM has to account for the improvements that we have seen…has there been other problems…sure, are there things Kelly should have done better…of course…but he has not been a bust at all…we are still in the fight for the playoffs, can take the division lead with a win this upcoming Saturday! The whining is too much!
Badly, I was wrong?? about Mariota?? He’s had some decent games but he hasn’t set the world on fire…for you to criticize me….is that all you have??
and with all the credit you’re giving the GM, are you also giving him credit for how the team has regressed as well. You’re looking at Kelly through Rose Colored Glasses – and it isn’t realistic, and you’re flat out wrong in your opinion.
SMDH, this team has regressed once again under Chip “GM” Kelly, his moves or lack there of on the o-line have hurt the team, as evidenced by our record, and the miserable offensive play. Breeze, Gardner getting hurt was a blow, Gardner blow. Just because Chip ordained him a starter does not mean he is a quality starter. This team will not finish better than 9-7, I think 7-9 to 8-8. This team is inconsistent, boring to watch, predictable and has among the worst 3rd down conversion percentage in the NFL. Chip Kelly’s two good picks were Hicks and Mathews, he does not get credit for the 2013 draft. Chip stated during the 2015 off season that he wanted to take this team from good to great, and that if he could not he does not deserve to be here. The moves he made in the past off season were moves meant to make a run this year, they certainly were not moves made by a rebuilding team. The expectation for this team has dropped tremendously, from being the perennial powerhouse in the NFC East, to hoping the Giants continue to lose so we may have a chance to sneak into the play offs with a bad record. On top of that, more than half way through the season, we are in 3rd place in an abysmal division, but yeah, Kelly knows what he is doing as GM and coach. 1 Kelly green smoothie to go please.
smh! C’mon EHL…once again…no one is saying the Kelly is perfect..
I’ve called him out for the worst move he made in getting rid of DJax…but again…we all acknowledged that the secondary had to be upgraded…Is there any argument about our improvement there?
Kelly gets credit for that…you cant bash him for the bad moves and not give him any credit for the good ones.
The question that I ask…is what quality Offensive linemen that would fit in this system that we can say would have played better than Gardner, Tobin, or Barbe was available to us in the draft or free agency?
Are there a couple of lineman we could have picked up that would have marked a slight improvement…maybe…but I’m not convinced of that…and most of the problems we have had on the line this year has been related to the injury problems of Peters and Johnson…as well as the poor play of our Pro Bowl Center Jason Kelce who has not played at that level.
This has hurt the offense tremendously…so does Kelly deserve some criticism…of course…but the contentions that he has been absolutely brutal as a GM are ridiculous and asinine.
Kool, have the Eagles regressed over the last two years since Kelly’s first season..Yes or No. There were o linemen available in the draft that would have been upgrades over what we have now, pman laid them out this past week. all of them are playing, and well. Kelly gave the same excuse in 2015 as he did in 14 for not drafting o linemen…it’s bs. The receiving corps stinks and I have been saying it since the second week of the season. Defense is better, but the ST’s and offense is worse. Those are the facts, that’s why they are 4-5, as opposed to 7-2 like they were nine games in last season.
Stumbling, Fumbling, and Bumbling…
This is what we consistently get from Vinniedafool
Another set of lame assertions that are so transparently fraudelent, Vinniedafool cant help but trip over himself like a stumbling clown who just cant figure anything out
We all know that the sole reason for Vinniedafool gripes about the Coach is that he got rid of his mancrush…so now nothing the Coach does is right and Vinniedafool is in a hurried rush to prove it
9 games into the season and Agholor is a bust
Agholor was acknowledged by the vast majority of people looking at the draft as a first round talent, the kid gets off to a slow start gets hurt…and now…presto…instant analysis from Vinniedafool-Agholor’s a bust who cant compare to the great Jeremy Maclin!
Please…spare us your instant analysis based upon your never ending grumble about the QB…
Fuck you backpedal sooo quickly from your pathetic assertions.
Couple hours ago Koolbreeze proudly announces that “no one!!!! argued with the Agholor pick.
Proven untrue (as usual) as several of us thought it was a bad pick (as opposed to your slathering all over the guy – better than Maclin!!!)
So back back back Koolbreeze goes mumbling incoherently about Quarterbacks and mariotta and whatever else he can spew to hide from another one of his imagined fantasies. Damn son, you even brought up Foles again!
Holy shit I now see you calling Maclin “Great!” 3 months ago your own words were that Agholor was going to be better immediately….could run the same routes, but was much tougher, and would be a good punt returner!
No one has called Agholor a bust you putz – my words were that first year WRs rarely ever contribute and that using 1st round picks on wrs is a waste of resources. 1st round picks should only every be on QB, OL or DL…maybe CB…maybe. I have been consistent on this point forever.
Again – you imagined that as “bust”
Fuck man, you really need help. You see imaginary worlds everywhere!
BTW kooltwit. Do you want to revisit the Miles Austin signing too? I seem to remember you singing that clown’s praises while I ripped it as a complete waste of cap and roster space.
How’s that working out for you?
Here’s my deal….Christmas is coming and I am thinking about Jerseys. Maybe one for me and another for my boy.
So who? Honestly, what player do I get on this team? Its pissing me off, because I can’t find anyone.
I usually prefer defensive players, but who?
Cox? (obv choice) only under conrtact for 1 more. I have no faith he’ll be back
Ryans – too old
Barwin – maybe
Kiko? does he play?
Kendricks – always hurt
Graham? Really?
Jenkins I suppose is the best choice….but really….wear that and all anyone will say is “who is Jenkins?”
On offense?
Bradford – gimmie a break
Murray – He’s a Cowboy
Ertz – Never gets the ball
Peters – finished
Matthews – maybe I guess….though I sort of have a rule about never wearing WR, CB or other pansy positions
Lane Johnson?? Damn…
I mean the pickings are pretty damn slim. There are no HoFers there….maybe one, but his career looks like its over……most are just “meh” players…nothing special.
Its f-ing depressing.
Just get him a “2016 2nd Round Pick” Jersey…
paul through all the nonsense you sometimes come up with a good one!
As an eternal optimist i say get him a superbowl 50 champion jersey!!!!!! Bradford comes back from injury, gets hot. Agular after struggling the first half becomes a monster, Murray gains 115 per game, Ertz becomes a gronk/witten combo– the D continues to mature with Cox becoming defense MVP– the eagles finish at 9-7 but are hot at the right time and beat the pats in the SB 37-34….. chip kelly gets a lifetime contract, Bradford signs a mega-extension– Big Lion kisses the LLCB on the lips, GM cliff still says the eagles aren’t NFL talent, paulman says ‘as i predicted all along, the eagles will win the SB’
Well Vinnie you can always get you and your boy a St Louis Rams jersey
Nick Foles No#5 Jerseys can be had for real cheap right about now-hell, they might even pay you for taking them off their hands! You could probably stack up on them bad boys…pass em around to other friends and family members for a Christmas gift!
Folks may call you a cheap bastard for giving them a Foles jersey…but who cares…listening to you on this forum what expectations should anyone have of you anyway?
Only one clown in here rocking a pic of a guy playing on another team Twit.
QB Sam Bradford and RB Ryan Matthews are both OUT for Sunday’s Game as Expected as reported by the Team/ESPN ..
Really? Both of them? Man, such bad luck. They’ve been such ironmen their entire careers. Arrive in Philly and get hurt. Eagles just never get any luck.
You gotta go with Jordan Hicks Vin, but you might have to get the same jersey for both you and your boy for the reasons you listed above.
Hicks…ya that’s the right call. I normally don’t like rooks because they can disappear the following year, but that guy single handedly destroyed the Cowboys season – that’s worth the price of a jersey alone!
But otherwise….slim pickins
Well, it just hasn’t gone far enough to forget about the Chipper one. He still has a year or 2 to redeem himself. We all saw some of this coming with the negligence of the O line. I think we can certainly agree that the D is improved. Lots of folks were mocking the third round pick, but he turned out to one of the best players on the team. As far as Bradford goes, he looks average with a lousy line and lousy receivers. Those areas need to get addressed first. If Chip leaves, he’s a coward in my eyes, for not seeing this through. We need to hang in there and be patient.
Sam Hinkie’s Tank Plan suffers another setback –
Nerlans Noel benched –
Starters: PG – McDonnell, SG Stauskas, SF Covington, PF Grant, C Okafor.
Something like 6 lottery picks in the last three years and that’s the line up… Trust the process suckers!
Watching 76ers losing badly to the Charlotte Hornets who have been playing pretty well after an 0-3 Stsrt to the Season
SF Batum from Portland was a great acquisition as were the Jeremy Lamb & Jeremy Lin coming off the Bench but Kemba Walker, Al Jefferson, Marvin Williams, Gilchrist give them a solid core
76ers making a little comeback and down by 12 Pts after being down by 24pts..
Woops Kaminsky hits from the Corner after Tunover from Okafor who has struggled in the 2nd Half… Noel, Covington & Stauskas looked active in the 3rd Quarter… Stauskas has a nice shooting stroke..
Sixers comitt awful turnovers. They lead the league in turnovers. They are a poor shooting team with a poor offense. Teams are blowing them out in most games.Their plan is bogus and the fans are tired of subpar Philly teams.
they dont have a good quality point guard…its no surprise they have so many turnovers…I’m giving Hinkie this year and one more year…the next draft they are supposed to have plenty of pics…if we dont see rapid improvement next year…Henkie has got to go!
How can this site be so critical of Kelly and Brown and Hinkie get a free pass?
****NFL News *****
49ers Place QB C Kaepernick on Season Ending IR List due to a Shoulder Injury to his (non-throwing shoulder) Which sounds a bit fishy since he’s been a full participant in Practice and it sounds like if he’s not Starting that they probably just want to remove him from the Team/Facility/Practice as they have decided to move on from him …
Seahawks Released RB Bryce Brown who has struggled to find a spot around the NFL (as I indicated he would 2 years ago) even though the Seahawks are a little thin behind Lynch & Jackson who have not been 100% all Season
This could be the end of the line for Brown who simply does not block well enough or catch the ball well enough to contribute on 3rd Downs and does not Play Special Teams either so not many opportunities for him around the NFL
Patriots OLB Jaime Collins will be missing his 2nd Game due to an undisclosed illness/virus that has laid him out for the last 2 weeks and supposedly has lost about 15-20 lbs and strength though he is expected back in a couple weeks
WR Julian Edleman is also out with having Foot Surgery last week and is probably due back come Playoff Time ..
Krapernick in Eagles Green next year! Super-fantastic. I’m excited.
I think Chip unfortunately Pursues RG3 with a Trade with the Redskins
One will be in Philly.
One will be in Dallas (maybe).
Shit… Fast QBs…both head cases exactly what we need.
