The Pederson Plan: Quarterback

SamBradford7The Philadelphia Eagles are in a state of the “unknown.” It’s a fragile time; valuable pieces of the roster were discarded by the former coach, and there are no mulligans in professional football.

Over the next couple of weeks, I’m going to explore the current state of each roster position. With Pederson sharing the need to “go through the process” at his press conference, I’m going to stay open minded with all of the options just like he has stated.

The quarterback decision for the Eagles, what to do with Sam Bradford? A player who has missed significant time in his career due to injury and is looking to cash in after an above average 2015 campaign, what will Pederson elect to do?

The Eagles could bypass the need to “commit” a long term contract or devote a first round pick draft pick on a quarterback by applying the franchise tag. Would it be foolish to shell out an estimated 20 million against their salary cap? I’d argue that signing the guy long term would be foolish, and that using the franchise tag is a temporary fix in what is a bleak pool of available upgrades.

The going rate of quarterbacks that have a similar pedigree as Bradford cashed in with long term deals in that 18-19 million per year range. If Bradford is going to return to Philadelphia, I’d much rather pay a mere few million more for “one year” versus being stuck with a minimum of three years for a player like Bradford who I don’t believe is a franchise level quarterback.

Let’s face it; Bradford had some moments that showed off his “potential.” Maybe without all of the drops, better play from the offensive line, a new scheme, maybe he could be the “franchise” quarterback in Philadelphia. Uh, I’ll pass on the “what if.” Bradford does not possess anything special to make me commit to him as “the guy.”

If not Bradford, then who lines up under center in 2016? Mark Sanchez still has one year remaining on his contract, but he should “not” be the option. Let Sanchez be the veteran mentor, serve as the backup option, sideline cheerleader or trade chip if former coach Rex Ryan wants to be reunited with his tattooed friend.

What about the available veteran quarterbacks? Chase Daniel has been a name thrown into the mix, simply because he was with Pederson in Kansas City. Chase is not a true name worth consideration; the same could be said about the potential veterans like RG3 (not worth the potential drama) or even Ryan Fitzpatrick (likely to resign with the Jets).

The draft is not a great class of quarterbacks, but this is where the judgement of Doug Pederson will have to shine. If Pederson sees enough in a guy like Paxton Lynch or even Carson Wentz that he wants to pull the trigger at pick #13, so be it. Jared Goff will likely be gone by the time the Eagles make their selection, and even though I feel the quarterback talent in this draft is as shaky as the 2011 class, maybe Pederson sees beyond what the scouts say about the college prospects.

I get the Eagles need help at the offensive line, which is the overwhelming position to upgrade in the first round of the draft. The talent at that position group has starter worthy prospects that could be found with the two selections the Eagles have in round three. Additionally, there is more talent available in free agency at offensive line then the slim pickings at quarterback.

One name that I’ll throw out there that I believe could be obtained via trade by the Eagles is current Buffalo Bills backup EJ Manuel. With Tyrod Taylor the likely franchise quarterback moving forward, the former first round pick in Manuel is expendable. Manuel would be a “post” Chip Kelly quarterback, a fresh face, and a guy who has shown some NFL talent already. I’m not saying the guy is the future, but he would provide a year to possibly develop a college kid that is drafted, or for the Eagles to revisit the 2017 free agency class of veteran quarterbacks with a greater selection then this offseason has to offer.

If the Eagles were to acquire Manuel, sign Daniels as the veteran backup, focus on building the offensive line in the early portion of the draft and waiting until their second pick in round three or even later to take a flyer or an “athletic” quarterback, I could support that route.

Obviously what direction the Eagles go with quarterback has to do with the vision of the new head coach and what offense he wants to run. Most expected a West Coast style, however Pederson was quick to remind the media that his offensive philosophy has components of the West Coast scheme, but it’s a hybrid that factors in the strengths of the quarterback and surrounding players on offense.

I think fans could support Bradford for one more season or if Pederson goes quarterback in round one. I do think signing Bradford to a long term deal would be a mistake for the Eagles new coach, and my gut feeling is a quarterback not currently on the roster will be the starter for the 2016 season.

So let me get this straight the ‘author ‘ of this article has proposed the EJ Manuel era…. Is this just some cruel joke? The Eagles believe they can compete… There is really not rebuilding or tanking in the nfl… They were close to the playoffs this year with a guy at the helm who suffers from Aspergers, a defensive scheme that was lacking and an offensive game plan that kept that defense on the field for an extra 10 minutes a game. Put Bradford under center, run Murray and Matthew 35 times per game let Sam do some play action… Go to a 43, we need two OL …. I predict they move forward with Sam I am

Murray and Kelce cannot co-exist – one has to go.
Demarco Murray cannot run in a finesse offense outside he doesn’t have the agility to play like that, he is a power back running between the tackles, meanwhile Kelce is too weak to block inside and must pull to the outside to be successful.

I think Howie chucks Bradford to the scrap heap and tries hide behind a faux rebuild like a scardy-cat with a rookie QB.
Because if Roseman marches Bradford out there he has to win the division. They gave Ed Marynowitz one draft to get out of 2nd place, Howie and Pederson better win this division next year especially if they retain Bradford. A lot of back stabbing went into this Pederson’s hire along with Gamble, Kelly and Marynowitz terminations. The man with the knife ( Howie Roseman ) has to win this division with HIS Kumbaya, everyone is ” collaborating nicely, Head Coach with the superior ” strategic thinking” skills.

Does he have to win the division or does he get a rookie QB? You said both things

Here is what I know a HC is tied at the hip to his QB…. Get a decent QB and your tenure will be long. Look at stinky m Lewis he had Palmer and dalton got him into playoffs where he’s failed to win but it’s just good enough. Hoodie stunk before Brady …smith is just good enough for AR…. QB is more important than coach

I think Howie punts and drafts a rookie QB to rebuild. Which will give him extra time to succeed.
If Howie marches Bradford out there for 2016 he has to win the division.

Manual….lol…Just because he was selected in the first round does not mean he can play.

Bradford or a Rookie with a guy like Daniels playing the Pederson 99 role. Those are the only paths to something. We are short draft picks (no second) already and need O-Line.

I believe Peters is DONE based on this past year especially after losing weight still having back issues. He is the financial risk.

1st round trade back to get a 1 and a 2. Take Best OT available, Guard, Guard, then a DB or WR…then BPA

I think he punts it even further down the road. Signs Daniels for cheap (4-5 million/year for 2 years. Drafts OT this crop year, then QB next when is better and Eagles will have a higher pick.

In fact, part of the press conf I disliked the most was Pederson saying “sure we can win the division”. It was better earlier when he was all “Eagles have been losing, we’re here to fix that”.

Hue Jackson in Cleveland din;t talk about divisions and playoffs…he said it was a long term build.

This team is NOT CLOSE to a SB at all. Talk af a tweak here and a tweak there and we’re SB bound is nonsense.

Bradford is such a “blech” move. A (while shrugging shoulders) “Well….I guess he’s the best available right…so he’s ok I guess….I mean we could win our terrible decision with him sooo….you know…..I suppose……”

FUCK.

That’s so Cleveland Browns style thinking.

Fucking Jets fans talking themselves into Fitzpatrick.
KC fan talking themselves into Smith
Cinci fan talking themselves into Dalton
Houston fan talking themselves into Hoyer
Eagles fan talking themselves into Bradford

And deep down each and every one of those fanbases KNOW how that will end up.

(BTW Dalton and Smith both better than Bradford)

No way. Want no part of it.

I am all for drafting our future franchise QB…. but im nit sure there is one here. I DONT want to see them draft a Ponder type guy and spend 3 year telling us how amazing he will be.

Tag Sam and go from there- keep him, trade him, draft a QB anyway.

I think Pederson likes having a more mobile QB for his system than what
Bradford provides..Also I am not sure Bradford willevenwant to remain in Philly to begin with, he’s in the Drivers Seat and will likely get offered more $$ or a longer term Deal than what Pederson/Eaglesare willing to offer
If Pederson is the “Strategic Planner” that Owner Lurie boasts about,
Then I think it’s a QB for the Future that will Draft and Develop which could be this Draft (Paxton Lynch at #13) or a Carson Wenz (N Dakota State) from a Trade Back later in the First Round for an additional Draft
We’ll see what OC is Hired and also where Pat Shurmur lands which depending where that is could be a TeamBradford would want to go to..
The next will be getting Pederson Staff in Ppace, Player Evaluations and a new Player Personnel Hired and brought up to speed with Scouting Depts work and reports for the 2016 Draft
This will be an extremely busy 120 Days at the NovaCare Center

As far as Player Personnel – Is Chris Polian still out there available?
There was Martin Mayhew of the Lions who was Fired during the Season and has a relationship with New DC Jim Schwartz…. Lots of moving parts..

Pederson has made it clear what he thinks about the Quarterback!

“I think Sam’s a quality quarterback,” Pederson said Tuesday. “I think he’s a top-notch quarterback. Look what he did that last half of the season, the numbers he was able to put up. As a quarterback, he would fit perfectly with a system that I’m going to bring.”

So what possible excuse can the Eagles give now to sign someone else? If the Coach thinks he’s “top-notch” how do they sell to the players on the team that they are getting rid of Sam to let Sanchez be the guy or bring in a rookie…when the Coach says Sam is a ‘top-notch’ Quarterback!

You keep top-notch Quarterbacks that can play in your system…and the Coach has made it clear that Sam fits!

Do note that Pederson has to be careful about what he says pertaining the QB
Position as Bradford is a Free-Agent and probably will have more to say where he ends playing than what Doug Pederson says…
Sanchez is under Contract in 2016 not by Pederson’s Dion but by Chip Kelly,
If Bradford bolts in Free-Agency, then the Eagles will need to acquire another one or trade for one and take a QB Prospect with their 1st Round Selection
Who knows, Peyton Manning could even end up playing for the Eagles in 2016 on a 1 Year Deal as Broncos are likely to move on and extend Brock Osweiler as their Future QB..
Geno Smith, EJ Manuel, Blaine Gabbert, RG3, Chase Daniels could all be in the mix if Bradford leaves and signs a long term deal with someone else..

I agree Paulman, and I think most coaches do that because they honestly don’t know how the players are going to pan out with the new coaches scheme etc. It’s also a strategy they use so it doesn’t come back to bite them in the ass if they decide to keep that particular player. No coach would be that stupid to berate a player when they are first hired. Many times I heard coaches talk very highly of guys on the roster that everybody, and their momma knows stinks, and is going to get cut.

This team needs a QB if they are ever going to return to being a super bowl contender. Right now we have the worse QB in our division. That’s not going to change because the coach changed.

We have the weakest WR corps, together with the worse QB in the division. It’s time to upgrade. We can keep Bradford around as a stopgap, but the top priority of this team should be finding a QB…

Most quarterbacks reach their full potential long before their 7th year in the league. If you expect Sam Bradford to develop into the best quarterback in the division at this late date, I think you might be disappointed.

Kurt Cousins has accomplished more in his short time as a starter than Sam has in 6 years.

I don’t think it’s likely.

4 years of play. 2 lost to injury.

Different OC every year about.

Lack of support.

Bradford made this same team win compared to Sanchez time under center this year no contest.

Sam has the mental game down and just needs to put his physical abilities which are above average together with his understanding of the game. He is back up to speed with timing and his release is special. With a strengthened lower body he will continue to improve over next few years.

If the CSN Philly Reports are true that Bradford & his Agent are Requesting $25 Million Per Season, Contract then you can simply write him off as remaining as Eagle..That’s the Eagles Entire Cap Space and the Eagles have 12 Current Free-Agents, plus 6-7 Draft Picks To Sign Besides Sam Bradford in Oreder to have a 53 Man Roster.. How could they even do this with out Releasing Players that are under Contract … They can’t, the Sam Bradford Era is Over..

I’m trusting the coach on this, he knows what he needs to succeed. I do feel that with less drops, a better Oline and a chance to learn the new system, Sam can rock it. He reads the D better then any qb we have has since Dmac and has great accuracy. Plus… We might even get to see him audible!! That said… If Doug wants a new guy.. So be it!!

I don’t see why Houston would want Sam Bradford when they have DeAndre Hopkins on the outside. Bradford refuses to throw the football to the outside almost always throwing it to the closest pass receiving option to him. If Houston signs Bradford then Hopkins better start lifting weights to play the slot or hybrid TE that is the only way he will get the football thrown his way from Bradford.

I like the pederson hire, if nothing else, we won’t run a gadget, Mickey Mouse offense that specializes in going three and out really fast. Really like the Schwartz hire. His track record suggests he may be able to play to strengths of the talent he has. As far as qb, Bradford is a middling player and his total package make a lucrative investment in him bad business decision, esp. with the already cap crushing deals given to mediocre maxwell and Murray. I’m hoping for a trade back to later 1st round, grab Wentz and a pick and go crazy on o-line with remaining picks. Initially, we’re going to have to run with p/a pass and play nasty defense to compete- similar to How Tampa played with a rookie qb. Build from there.

Sign him, franchise tag him fill in the other spots…the division is weak we need to get in the playoffs next year!

The Eagles are approx $24-$25 Million under the Cap for 2016
They cannot afford to Franchise Tag Bradford for $20-$22 Million for they would not be able to afford the Draft Class and Other Players to Field a 53-Man Roster
Chip Kelly so screwed this Short-term Salary Cap with these bad Deals
for Maxwell,Murray, Sanchez, the New Deal for Jason Peters that the Eagles will have to be very smart/tight with their Contracts the next 2 Years and this is including extensions to Young Core Players like F Cox, B Logan, Z Ertz & L Johnson.. The fact of the matter is that the Eagles cannot afford to pay a Top QB Salary to anyone in 2016, unless they clear their Roster of Veterans like D Ryans, J Peters, D Spoles, B Celek, M Jenkins, etc,etc.. The Math just doesn’t add-up …

Bridgewater will have a very short NFL Career.. He’s 15-20 lbs too light and will getkilled weighing at 208lbs as he does now.. He has a average to below average arm and word is that he has struggled with the X’s & O’s and Interview Process which no Team or Reporter will admit to in Public due to the usual Racial Overtones…
I bet a QB Taj Boyd has a better Long-term NFL QB Career than Bridgewater
I believe Bridgewater is a solid step below last Years Prospect in Geno Smith but with a weaker arm…

With improved Mecahnics that Boyd will learn and receive at the NFL Level, I believe he has a higher cieling, though it will take a good 2 Years.. Boyd was a 3-4 Year Starter, is a Winner and has many ACC Passing Records versus much better Compeition & Athletes and Coaching than what Bridgewater ammased playing in the BIg-East Conference and hateve it was called last year..

All of these lies you said about me and continue to fail to back up with a simple post. The fact is you are such a poor judge of talent you backed with excitement all of Chip’s dumb ass personnel decisions last year..calling them excellent. I think Jeff Lurie is well aware that he screwed-up when he hired Kelly.

The Chip Kelly hire was a risk that didn’t work out. It’s much more than the bad personnel moves Kelly made. He was an embarrassment to Lurie from the day he released DJax and people started questioning his motives.

When the word racist is used in the same sentence with the Eagles organization Jeff Lurie takes it very seriously. That had more to do with Kelly being fired than people realize…

But I’m not a General Manager of the football team, Howie Roseman has a track record idiot…and its not that good. Lurie should have fired him outright because he failed…not allow him to stick around and then bring back in the same position that he sucked at before…

Peeps keep hollering about Howie being awful but reality is he didn’t fuck up lurie did by allowing chip to stay, give him full control and let him guy us of draft picks, top 3 rbs, solid guards and wr. Koolbreeze, so let’s review, every move Chip Kelly made in 20 15 you backed and swung on his peter over, clearly he was wrong, as you were too which is no surprise because you normally are. You react off of emotion and put very little though into moves that are made, such as saying Agholor was going to take over for Mac and be better..lmao…wrong!…hysterical! What were you basing that on as the kid never played a down in the NFL?…Not to mention that rookie WR’s rarely make an impact..Duh! Secondly, Manziel, you wanted to take him in the first, what a disaster, what were you basing that on or thinking about? Anyone with a modicum of football intelligence realized that his game would not translate to the NFL. You harp and harangue on Howie Roseman, but have no clue as to what role he is going to serve moving forward, you stated you were underwhelmed by DP, fine, based on what?…emotion and ignorance. He has not had one meeting or coaching session or had spoken to the public at the time, but yet you have this guy pegged, then back track and agree with me that he needs the opportunity to prove himself, then you go on your harangue about how he has to win next year. Once again, an irrational thought process by you. What good is taking a position when the position you take is not only constantly wrong, but based in ignorance and emotion, not logic. You are the clown of GCOBB, bar none, everyone knows you wanted Tahj Boyd and Manziel, no need for me to search that. I know you will not post anything about me liking or backing the Watkins pick, the truth is that you have already looked but could not find anything to post because you lied…lying ass foolbreeze. Tony Tough guy..lol..how trite…zzzzzzz lean back or Jump ship! LOL, I find it funny how you want to say fall back after I told you to lean back…biter! Try an original thought why don’t you!

KB, Yuo have to understand that by Franchising Sam Bradford, there is no
“Filling in the Other Spots” All of the Eagles Cap Space would go to pay for Bradford that they would have to cut 4-5 Veterans just to fill the other 12-15 Open Roster Spots.. How does any of this make Sense to you??
You have to understand how poorly Chip Kelly Did on the Contracts/Cap Management side of things to understand why Lurie’s “Strategic Planning” is what it is.. Very few Player Signings/Acquistions this Off-Season,
Heavy Focus on the Draft with Teaching and Coaching up the Young Core Of Players (which will include a Young QB)
There are about 3-4 Veterans who will likely be Salary Cap Casualties
LB D Ryans, WR Riley Cooper and others who will be asked to restructure their Deals like a TE B Celek or LT Jason Peters, maybe extend a Darren Sproles or Malcolm Jenkins Deals to spread out out some $$$

Paulman you fill the other spots with draft picks, free agents or whatever you can get. You get guys to take pay cuts, you cut unproductive players like Riley Cooper, you may have to cut Jason Peters…what you don’t do is have a ‘fill-in’ Quarterback and leave yourself like a lot of teams in the league that have slop at the QB position.

Damn Koolbreeze you need to become a polition because you keep talking out of both sides of your mouth!!

“Eagles can’t be left with slop at the QB position” “I want Sam Bradford!!”

Sam Bradford IS slop!

“Can’t have slop – I want slop!”

“Can’t spin wheels – I want the wheels to spin!”

“Have to compete – Want a guy who will ensure we won’t compete!”

“Need a winner! – Sign a loser!”

Brilliant.

your baffled and confused Vinnie…

you were deeper in slop than a pig in the nasty ass pig pen

Bradford is significantly better than Nick Foles

Foles was the pure slop that you loved who may well come available
with the strong possibility of the Rams cutting him and putting him on the street.

So lets make this clear now…because you are hoping beyond hope to be re-united with your man crush…

Get rid of Bradford and restore Foles to the team

No Vinnie…simply NO!

“Bradford is significantly better than Nick Foles”

LOL

in what category?

Wins? He’s 6 wins behind your hero despite having 28 less starts.
Losses? Bradford has almost twice as many losses
Career Completion % (you seem to like that one) Foles higher
TD % Foles a full % higher (ouch)
Int % Foles lower
Y/Avg Foles higher
QB rating Foles higher.

LOL. That’s the fucking best.

Despite having a terrible year. Completely stinking out the joint. Getting benched.

He is STILL better than Bradford in every single category.

LOL

This must drive you absolutely ape-shit.

Your “saviour” is still has career #s worse than a guy who was benched!

Koolidiot screams that bradford is “better in every way” yet even the stats he loves to use (despite saying stats are useless) say the exact opposite.

Koolidiot screaming for the Eagles to sign this perennial loser to a long term contract – no matter what it takes!!!!!!

LOL

Foles may suck. He may have shit the bed with the Rams. He may be terrible.

Then what the hell does that make Sam Bradford who is worse in every categoy.

And this will be funny – because he can’t say….well that because Bradford was on a shitty Rams team, because Foles is on the same shitty Rams team.

Can’t say it was the shitty oline and wrs because the Rams oline and wrs are worse!

Can’t say just look at what Bradford did with the Eagles, or just look at what Bradford did over the second half (as if 10 tds in 7 games – 3 in complete garbage time is some sort of mythical accomplishment) because if you compare Eagles to Eagles, then Sam looks even worse compared to Foles. At least he won games!

Koolbreeze. Whatever he says….the opposite is true!

“In what category”

Pretty simple Vinniedafool…two quarterbacks both entering into new situations

Foles has a full training camp completely healthy with plenty of time to learn there system

Bradford coming off of two knee surgeries and still recovering during training camp

Foles got worse as the season went on…he was humiliated and benched once and given a second chance to perform and start…he stank ass again and was benched again…Casey Keenum took the job and performed much better and will probably start next year while the Rams who may draft another QB may end up cutting Foles who is right now worthless on the open market.

Bradford got better as the year progressed…as noted on Philly.com

“It took Bradford roughly half the season to regain confidence in his twice-damaged left knee and really master Kelly’s offense. But once he did, his productivity soared. Despite a league-high 50 drops by his receivers, he set franchise records for completions (346) and completion percentage (65.0).”

Despite a league leading drops, Bradford set franchise records for completions and completion percentage!

Funny how you missed that very important stat..Vinniedafoolass-Statman

So under the category who is a better QB…Foles who may be cut and no one would pay him barely squat….or Bradford who would be the most sought after free agent on the market…its a easy call

Bradford is better…Fool ass Vinny!

Watched the Jim Schwartz Interview… I like this Guy and Hire, the Eagles got a High Quality Coach with Head Coaching Experience as their DC who will transform this Defense into an Attacking, High Pressure Unit…
Pederson can also bounce things off and lean on Schwartz experience’s as a former HC.. A Great Hire by Lurie & Co. and could be the real find and Hire of the Off-Season for the Eagles

Some Free-Agents from the KC Chiefs that are familiar with Doug Pederson
and his System

QB – Chase Daniel – Age 29 (6-0 225lbs)

WR Jason Avant – Maybe sign for a 1 Year Deal, Help out the Young Eagle Receivers and basically replace Riley Cooper as a thought?

Guard – Jeff Allen – Age 26 (6-4 306lbs)

OT – Donald Stephenson – Age 26 (6-6 312lbs)

Here are some Free-Agents that have played for Jim Schwartz on Defense
that may be worth the Eagles Pursuing …

OLB – Nigel Bradham – Bills (Age 26)
DT – Corbin Bryant – Bills (Age 28)
DT – Stefan Charles – Bills (Age 27)
Strong Safety – Bacarri Rambo (Age 25)

Also maybe a potential Trade between the Bills & Eagles with DE Mario Williams who does not care much for Rex Ryan Schemes and has been very outspoken about getting out of Buffalo, Mario Williams had an All-Pro Season under Jim Schwartz in 2014 and would love to reunite with him..

Other Players/Defenders from Detroit that Played for Jim Schwartz

DE – James Jones (Age 29)
Safety – Isa Abdul-Quddus (Age 27)
OLB – Tahir Whitehead (Age 25)
ILB – Travis Lewis (Age 28)
CB – Josh Wilson (Age 30)
CB – Crezdon Butler (Age 28)

I’ve seen Boyd play a lot over the last 2 Seasons and with Pro Coaching, I think he can develop into a very good NFL QB.. He reminds me a lot of a young McNabb and is very smart with his decision making, has great leadership qualities, it tough, smart and very Coachable.. – YOUVE SEEN HIM PLAY AND CMOPARE HIM TO MCNABB HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

HOW ABOUT THESE TWO? THEY IN SEPTEMBER????????

How quickly they forget..
Watkins missed 2 weeks of Camp due to Contract negoitiations on a shortened Camp.. He was named Starter by Coach AR when he shouldn’t have been, as he didn’t know the system and probably wasn’t even in tip-top football shape.. To say he lost his job to a journeymen is not a true assesment, Watkins wasn’t ready period, as most rookies aren’t with 3-4 weeks under his belt…
Just like Center Kelce, who struggled some the 1st month of the Season, they both improved as the Season went on.. With a full off-season together in the EAgles Program, both Kelce & Watkins should be a little stronger, quicker and understand Mudd’s system that much better.. Both players have bright, solid futures ahead of them..
.
WATKINS WITH THAT BRIGHT FUTURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GREAT FOOTBALL ANALYSIS. HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I am not writing off Free-Sefety Nate Allen jsut yet, I actually think he’s a pretty good player when he’s healthy.. The Free-Safety main job is to be the Center Fielder and the last line of Defense which I think he has played pretty well, again when he’s been healthy.. He should not have been on the field to start last season which I stated many times even last year when it was obvious he still wasn’t healthy.. I feel the Strong Safety is where the Safety position needs to be updgraded and where they Eagles need a thumper (like a Mark Barron type)
Most of the Scouting Reports when Allen was coming out of College was ed that he was a good player on the ball and in pass coverage and this he wasn’t the most physical player or a great tackler which has been pretty accurate.. The Free Safety needs to be a Pass Cover player first, the Strong Safety need to be hitter and enforcer of the Secondary which the Eagles lack.. .

He sure was as many Players from Alabama are every Draft which is why Mock Draft’s are just that, Mocks … Because a Player is Mocked 7th by me or anyone else does not mean me or anyone else think he’s the 7th Best Player available in the Draft. Its a lot about Teams Needs, the Personalities and Coach’s and GM’s involved and so on and so forth …
A Trade up or a Trade Back re-sets the entire board and is one of things that make the Draft a complete Crapshoot from Pick# 1 to Mr Irrlevant …
Some Drafts are not that Deep and Good to begin with also..

Look at the Texans in 2014 Draft who Selected what everybody stated was the Top #1 player heads and above everyone else DE Jedeveon Clowney and what has he done ? Look at the #2 Pick in OT Greg Robinson of the Rams who was beaten out his for 2 Season at OT and was moved inside to Play Guard… Don’t you think that the Texans or Rams would rather have selected
GMCliffs Pick of LB Khalil Mack, who the Raiders took at #5

#8 – CB Justin Gilbert of the Browns can’t even get on the FIeld for a 4-5 Win Team

#10 – TE Eric Ebron of the Lions has done very little in his 2 Seasons to warrant a 10th Overall Pick

Then on the Flip Side there are Gems that land to Teams later in the Draft

#12 – WR Odell Beckham – Who wouldn;t want this kid
#13 – DT Aaron Donald – Probably the best Young DT in all the NFL
#16 – Guard – Zack Martin of the Cowboys Day 1 Starter, A Pro-Bowler Player and has played every snap in his 1st 2 Seasons
#17 – ILB CJ Mosely – Ravens – A Beast and Leader of their Defense
#22 – QB Johnny Football – Browns — Enough Said…
