After the Eagles select their franchise quarterback with the second overall pick of the 2016 draft, it’s going to feel like an eternity until their next selection. With Howie Roseman, it’s not impossible for the Eagles to trade up from their next scheduled pick at #79, but the scenario is highly unlikely.
There are several position groups that need help; all of them won’t be addressed. With the six remaining selections the Eagles have after drafting Goff or Wentz, running back is one of the top positions of need.
Ryan Mathews is prone to missing games due to injury Sproles and Barner are next up on the depth chart. Pick #79 is a great position to add a play-maker that could be an immediate threat out of the backfield.
After Ezekiel Elliot, the next three down running back that I had my eyes on was Paul Perkins out of UCLA. The Eagles have shown interest in Perkins, so it wouldn’t come as a surprise if they ended up drafting him.
His game has some Jamaal Charles and LeSean McCoy components with how shifty he can be at changing directions and making defenders miss. The young man can catch the football and displays good patience allowing for his blockers to set up in front of him. He gives tremendous effort as a pass blocker, but due to his size (listed at 5’10” and 208 pounds) he will need to improve his technique and add bulk up to handle NFL defenders.
If the Eagles end up waiting until day three of the draft to draft a running back, Kelvin Taylor (Florida) and Daniel Lasco (California) would be solid selections in the 5th round.
There is also a chance that Howie Roseman gets crafty, electing to go the route of trading a conditional pick in 2017 to obtain a running back. Current Kansas City Chiefs running back Kniles Davis is a potential target to add veteran depth to the Eagles running back committee. A conditional sixth round pick in 2017 should be enough to obtain the rights to the running back currently listed as fourth on the depth chart.
It will be interesting to see what direction the Eagles end up going with their next pick after drafting a quarterback, The selection of Paul Perkins would be a great move, adding a player who could contribute immediately as a rookie, and hopefully take over full running back duties next season.
Big fan of Paul Perkins. he would be a decent offensive weapon to run the ball and catch it out of the backfield.
Perkins is impressive and would be a good fit for the Eagles…
I am also thinking OLB with this 79th Pick which is a Position with not much Depth on the Eagles Roster as former OLB’s in the old 3-4 Scheme will all now be playing DE in Schwartz’s 4-3 .. So Brandon Graham, Connor Barwin and even Marcus Smith II will be Playing their Natural Positions as DE leaving the OLB Position very think

From the outside not liking Jason Peters at all for quitting on the team last year, let alone trust his desire to play with any injury discomfort at age 34 this season, Birds have to get OTs. Would like to address this with 3rd rounder.

Here’s the thing about Sam Bradford: He’s a bust.
That’s what Colin Cowherd had to remind everyone about in the aftermath of the past week, when the Philadelphia Eagles traded up for the No. 2 pick in the draft, Bradford got mad and demanded a trade, and the Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos expressed interest but decided the price was too steep.
With Bradford, the price always has been too steep, starting with the record $50 million in guaranteed money he made as the No. 1 pick in 2010.
This offseason he signed a two-year, $35 million deal ($22 million guaranteed, plus an $11 million signing bonus). Now he wants out. But who would take his contract?
No one, Cowherd says. And here’s why.
“Sam Bradford has been paid like an American star quarterback. So it skews our perception. All he is is a well-compensated bust,” Cowherd said on “The Herd” on Tuesday.
If you look at Bradford’s stats (78 TDs, 52 INTs, 24 fumbles, 60.1% comp., 81.0 rating, 25-37-1 W-L), they’re similar to the stats of another first-round pick who’s considered a bust:
Josh Freeman (81/68/38, 57.6, 77.6, 25-36).
“People think knee injuries have derailed Bradford’s career. No, they’ve just masked it,” Cowherd said. “He’s average. He’s an injury-prone, turnover-plagued bust.”

Ok you are right — quite a few of Howie’s moves I like, some you mention above. I like OG Brooks and the #2 QB draft pick move for Wentz & some of Howie’s young core being extended like Ertz and Johnson. But I hate the Pederson, Schwartz, Daniels, Bradford, & Curry signings.

I agree on Ragland I see only a two down player, and he will a OK MB but not worth a 1st Rd pick but Dodd is different, the guy is very raw and is just learning the De position, but his natural ability is off the charts and could be a pro bowler in 2 or 3’years
He (Ragland) will have improve pass-coverage skills as all LB’s need to do as they transition from College Ball to the NFL.. He’s athletic, quick and physical enough to handle the inside zone area between the numbers…but obviously is not going be covering today’s athletic TE’s 20-30 yards down the field which most ILB in the NFL are able to do too well..
I don’t think he will be a bust at all, I expect him to make the All-Rookie Team and contribute nicely to whatever Team Drafts

NJ.com reports the Giants are no longer considering UCLA LB Myles Jack for the 10th overall pick.
It’s back to the drawing board for New York. The Giants were reportedly one of the few teams not concerned with Jack’s knee but it appears they’ve had a change of heart. Jack’s admission that he might need microfracture surgery at some point didn’t help his cause. The Giants didn’t work Jack out during the pre-draft process so maybe they were never that interested. Regardless, the team’s decision to remove him from their board completely is a huge red flag. Jack may have to wait longer than expected to hear his name called Thursday night. Apr 27 – 7:38 PM
