Final Thoughts
Jeremy Hellickson’s run had to end sooner or later.
Hellickson had been a rock through his first five starts, but run into a buzzsaw tonight. It’s a shame to see his ERA balloon so much from this outing, his 3.18, while by no means terrible, really isn’t a good enough showing of how well he pitched in the first month.
You can’t say enough about how good Aaron Altherr has been since getting a chance to play every day. It’s still early, and we have to see how the league adjusts to him as he gets more at-bats, but right now he’s really looking like a guy who has a chance to stick.
The same can’t be said for Odubel Herrera, who has been a disappointment. I think the Phils may want to think about flipping Herrera and Altherr in the order, giving a little more pop to the three-hole.
