The Eagles drafted a running back in the fourth round, but it wasn’t Wisconsin’s Corey Clement, it was San Diego State’s Donnell Pumphrey. Of course we all know what happened with Clement proving he’s better prepared to play on the NFL level than the undersized Pumphrey.
Clement has earned more and more playing time for the Birds and this past weekend he exploded for three touchdowns against one of the best defenses in the NFL, the Denver Broncos.
Of course everybody is aware of Eagles new running back Jay Ajayi, who was acquired from the Miami Dolphins. Ajayi exploded last year with over 1200 yards rushing for the Dolphins and three 200-yard-plus games.
Eagles head coach Doug Pederson gives an assessment of the two running backs after the blowout 51-23 win over the Broncos.
Always cool when an undrafted rookie makes the squad and does well like Clement. Last year Destiny Vaeao exceeded expectations as an undrafted rookie and did well.
