This was a rumor circling all day, but now the Philadelphia Inquirer’s Jeff McLane has confirmed that the Eagles have a trade offer from the Rams on the table.
Apparently, the Rams are offering their second-round pick (33rd overall) and safety O.J. Atogwe in exchange for QB Donovan McNabb.
Some reports say that McNabb could be a Ram by the end of the day and possibly the end of the week.
We’ll see what happens, but I offer this phrase in response to all those cheering at the thought of Donovan leaving town:¬† Careful what you wish for.
Can Kevin Kolb play?¬† Maybe.¬† He is the only QB in NFL history to throw for more than 300 yards in the first two starts of his career.¬† That’s great and at times he’s looked very sharp.¬† Just keep in mind, that the first game was a blowout against the Saints that included some costly interceptions.¬† And the second game was against a horrific Kansas City Chiefs team that didn’t look like they belonged on an NFL field.
My opinion is that if the Eagles are serious about winning now, they need to keep Donovan.¬† He gives you the best chance to win right now and I don’t think it’s up for discussion.¬† But, if they don’t retool this defense and plug the leaks, this team isn’t going anywhere right now and they might as well get something in exchange for McNabb.
We’ll see what happens.
