The Birds got in their final workout as they focused on their first week matchup with the Green Bay Packers. They worked against the Packer offense which will be led by Brett Favre, and they strategized against the Pack defense as well.
It seems that Jason Avant who had an exceptional mini camp is now the 3rd receiver behind Reggie Brown and Kevin Curtis. Avant had a camp much like the one that Hank Baskett had last summer. He seems to see things better and he's forceful with his moves and adjustments. The former Michigan Wolverine caught everything thrown his way.
Greg Lewis is still Mr. Dependable for Andy Reid and it's going to be very difficult for one of the youngsters to take his spot. Lewis didn't do a lot during the mini camp but like the last few seasons, Greg has come through when they've thrown the ball to him.
Omar Gaither had an outstanding mini camp working against the pass. He' picked off A.J. Feeley with a beautiful finger tip grab in today's workout. Omar has to prove he can physically deal with the size and power inside at the middle linebacker position.
Kevin Curtis got deep against Quintin Mikell and Sean Considine and McNabb put the ball in his arms for an easy score. After practice Curtis said he will go out to Arizona so he can get in additional workouts with Donovan and the rest of the receiver group.
You can see the emphasis of Lovie Smith on Ian Scott because he runs to the ball like the game was on the line on every play he's in the game. it would be a nice thing if the rest of the Eagles defense were to pick up on those pursuit habits.
Tony Hunt seems to be in position to be the third team halfback behind Brian Westbrook and Correll Buckhalter.
