There’s a report that came out yesterday, proclaiming that the Eagles have decided to bring Michael Vick back for the upcoming season.
This report is out there because the Birds want it out there and has been delivered the way the Eagles want it delivered.
In my opiinion, this is total nonsense because I will guarantee you, if somebody has a quarterback go down in mini camps or in training camp and they make a good offer for Vick, the Eagles will hand him over in an instant.
They haven’t decided to bring him back, the truth is nobody is willing to give them what they want for him.¬† The Eagles want to make it sound like they made the decision on Vick rather than other teams made a decision that they’re not very eager to acquire him.
It’s like a teenager in high school who says “I’m not going to the prom”, rather than “I can’t find a date to the prom”.
Personally I think Vick is a better quarterback than at least 6 to 8 starters in the National Football League.
He’s not the best thrower in the league but he has a strong arm and he brings other things to the table like his mobility.
He’s going to get the ball into the end zone while other pocket quarterbacks are going to be unable to do it.
This guy has taken teams to the playoffs.  He would be an improvement in Oakland, Buffalo, St. Louis, Cleveland, Miami, or Arizona.
He could help a team with a good defense and good running game like San Francisco.  Vick would make more plays than Alex Smith.
The same is true for a team like the Carolina Panthers.¬† He’s better than the kid they’re going to have starting.
I think the Eagles have made the mistake of ignoring the nervous atmosphere around the league because of the absence of a salary cap.
Somebody in that front office made some foolish assumptions and team may have to pay for it.
Teams seem to be fearful of bringing on salaries.
There’s been very little free agent activity and it’s put the Eagles in a position where they can’t get what they want for McNabb or Vick.
