The Washington Redskins have been caught doing something that many fans believe the rest of the league is doing. They were busted selling tickets to companies who then scalped the tickets.
The Washington Post reported what exactly happened.
“Somebody in the ticket office was doing something they shouldn’t have been doing, and when it was discovered, it was all dealt with,” Redskins Senior Vice President Karl Swanson said. “If the story is, this is a scandal, uncovered by Redskins, verified by The Post, or whatever, yeah, we’re telling you: People got tickets who shouldn’t have gotten tickets, and they were dealt with.”
Many of the NFL owners are working under huge debt service because of the nearly billion dollar stadiums they have built, so they’ll do nearly anything for a few bucks.
The big difference in what the Redskins did and what team have been doing for a while now, is that they sold the tickets directly to the organization that scalped them.
Previously teams have sold tickets to organizations who then sold them to another organization which scalped them.
If the NFL really wanted to stop this, they would refuse to honor any tickets that had been scalped.
You and I know they’re not going to do that.
