The Green Bay Packers have a nice running back in Ryan Grant, but after that? Not much. Former second-round pick Brandon Jackson doesn’t really offer much, so it’s not a complete shock that the Packers would have some interest in former Philadelphia Eagles RB Brian Westbrook. The Packers need depth at the position and I’d have to think that after this much time with little to no sniffs in free agency, the Westbrook would come cheap.
Well, two sources tell the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel that the team is indeed interested in the 30-year old tailback. Westbrook was officially released by the Eagles in March and missed eight games last year due to a pair of concussions.
But head injuries aside, Westbrook has been battling knee and ankle issues for years and is really breaking down. He was one of the nastier weapons in the NFL for several years, but lately he struggles to stay on the field and when he does, he isn’t very effective.
The Packers would likely want him to be a third-down back and bring something to the table. Unlike Jackson, who does very little aside from pass block.
He really should just retire. If he keeps getting concussions, he’s going to ruin his life.
Agreed. Westbrook please hang em up.
I agree, just hang it up Westbrook. I don’t want to see you wearing any other jersey than an Eagles’ jersey.
