Upshaw – Owners Will Opt Out Of CBA

NFLPA Executive Director Gene Upshaw says the NFL owners will opt out of the current CBA.

He thinks they're going to do it sooner rather than later.  He also doesn't buy some of the owners talking about they're losing money.  Upshaw says the owners are talking about losing money because they didn't make as much as they expected to make.

It does seem hard to believe NFL owners are losing money when you look at the billions they're getting from the networks.  I think you're going to see the seasons be stretched to 17 games.

An extra game would produce more revenue and allow the owners and the players to stay happy.  I think the players are going to have to give up a three, four or five percentage points in their compensations package.
