Peter King Expects Favre’s Return

SI.com's Peter King expects Brett Favre to return to the NFL.

I don't agree with King that the Packers would ever release him and allow him to sign with one of their divisional rivals like the Minnesota Vikings.

Whoever titled the Favre piece hit it on the head when they titled it "Nightmare In Green Bay", because that what it is.

They're in a no win situation.  If they turn down Favre's desire to return, the Green Bay fans are going to erupt, but they must not allow him to play for one of their rivals.  They should trade him rather than release his rights if they don't accept him back.

If they accept him back and give him his job back, Aaron Rodgers is sure to demand to be traded but really so what.  I would send Rodgers packing because he's never done anything.  He might be a Tim Couch.

With Favre they could win the Super Bowl, Rodgers is probably going to struggle for awhile before he learns the ropes.

I'm sure John Madden is following this situation and hyperventilating about the thought of being able to make a big deal of Favre again.

Bill Williamson of ESPN.com went through the entire NFL and looked at Favre's chances of going to that team this year. He wrote the following about Favre's chances of coming to the Eagles.

Philadelphia Eagles:  It's about a year too early for the Favre-Eagles pairing. Donovan McNabb could be on his way out in Philly, but not now. Eagles coach Andy Reid has a history with Favre and it would make sense in a year, but not now.
