This morning Drew
Rosenhaus texted ESPN and told them that several NFL teams have expressed interest in signing T.O. He said he expects to have Owens signed with another team next week.
The T.O. Sweepstakes
NFC EAST
Philadelphia Eagles – Jeffrey Lurie has said he wishes he hadn’t ever brought Owens to Philadelphia despite the fact that he helped the team make it to the Super Bowl.
Dallas Cowboys – Jerry Jones and the Cowboys were Owens latest victims.
Washington Redskins – Redskins VP of football operations spoke on the Redskins interest in Owens -[Owens’s representatives] called us three years ago before he went to Dallas, and we didn’t have interest then,” Cerrato said. “Why would we have interest when he’s three years older now? We have no interest."
New York Giants – The Giants are need of a marqee receiver with Plaxico Burress' future uncertain, but I don't konw that they would be will to bring someone as toxic as Owens onto their football team.
Accordign to Bob Glauber of Newsday, the Giants are not going to be in line to sign Terrell Owens, who has been released by the Cowboys. There is "zero" interest in talking to Owens, according to a league source familiar with the team's situation.
NFC NORTH
Chicago Bears – Even though Lovie Smith doesn't seem like an Owens guy, his job is on the line because they can't get anything done offensively.
Detroit Lions – The Lions are trying to rebuild their franchise, they probably don't want a malcontent like Owens to be around poisoning their young players. At the same time, Detroit and the state of Michigan are in an awful condition. Perhaps they would want Owens around to draw media attention and crowds.
Green Bay Packers – The Packers have a young promising quarterback and a couple of outstanding receivers, so they don't have the need of the toxic man.
Minnesota Vikings – Owens had a run in with Vikings coach Brad Childress when he was the Eagles offensive coordinator.
NFC SOUTH
Carolina Panthers – Panthers aleady have a great wide receiver in Steve Smith who attacks his temmates. I doubt they would bring another wild card to town.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Atlanta Falcons
New Orleans Saints – New Orleans coach Sean Payton went on a local radio station and made it clear that the Saints aren't interested in Owens . Payton had this to say.."Certainly he's explosive," Payton said of Owens, "but he's 2nd in the league in dropped passes. A lot of those came at critical moments,"
NFC WEST
St Louis Rams – Head coach Steve Spagnuolo had a ringside seat and saw Owens divide the Eagles while he was serving as the team’s linebacker coach. The St. Louis Times Dispatch says the Rams are interested in Owens.
San Francisco 49ers – San Francisco was the team where Owens started and also where he began his implosion.
Seattle Seahawks
Arizona Cardinals
AFC EAST
New England Patriots – Bill Belichick has had a way of grabbing players near the end of their career and milking two or three productive years out of them. The thought of Randy Moss and Terrell Owens on the same team would probably be toxic. Two alpha receivers on the same team wouldn’t work.
New York Jets – The Jets could use a playmaker at the wide receiver position and they also are trying to sell personal seat licenses in the midst of a recession. A Newsday reporter says a source told him that the Jets aren't interested in Owens.
Miami Dolphins – Dolphins football operations director Bill Parcells didn’t want Owens when Jerry Jones brought him to Dallas.
Buffalo Bills – The Bills could use another playmaker and Owens would be very popular in both Buffalo and Toronto.
AFC NORTH
Cleveland Browns
Pittsburgh Steelers – The Steelers emphasize the team first mindset and wouldn’t risk their team concept with a guy like Owens.
Cincinnati Bengals – The Bengals have made it a habit of babysitting players who ran afoul of the law and they just replaced T.J. Houshmandzadeh with Laveranues Coles.
Baltimore Ravens – John Harbaugh saw Owens divide the Eagles locker room, when he was working as the team’s special teams coach.
AFC SOUTH
Houston Texans – A few years ago when the Eagles released Owens here is what Texans owner Bob McNair had to say. "He's almost dismantled the Eagles; why would you wish that on us? I've already got enough problems."
Jacksonville Jaguars – Jack Del Rio’s job is on the line and the Jags could use a playmaker at the wide receiver position. Unfortunately for him, “No interest,” is what Jaguars general manager Gene Smith had to say to the prospects of bringing in Owens..
Indianapolis Colts – Owens isn’t the kind of guy who the Colts are attracted to, plus they have two talented receivers and a talented tight end.
Tennessee Titans – Accodring to Tennessean.com the Titans aren't interested in Owens. They say they're still trying to get over Pacman Jones.
AFC WEST
Oakland Raiders – Al Davis relishes picking up players which the rest of the league have cast off. He’s got a talented young quarterback but nobody for him to throw the ball to.
San Diego Chargers – According to the San Diego Union Tribune the Chargers are willing to sign Owens.
Denver Broncos – The Broncos might need Owens services because their young star receiver Brandon Marshall may miss part of the season if he gets suspended by the NFL commissioner for constant run-ins with the law.
Kansas City Chiefs – Head coach Todd Haley was humiliated by Owens on the 49ers sideline when he was the team’s offensive coordinator.
