AP Re-voting On Cushing But What About All The Other Guys

It’s about time the Associated Press stepped up and did something about the abundant abuse of rules in professional sports.¬† If guys are going to break the rules and win awards then it destroys some of the deterence to stop them from breaking the rules.

The national media organization is going to re-vote the Defensive Player of the Year because last year’s pick linebacker Brian Cushing has been caught using Human chorionic gonadotropin, or hCG. It is a chemical which is used to restore the body’s normal production of testosterone when a person stops using the steroids, or this a testosterone booster will do the trick.

It’s the same thing that Manny Rimerez was suspended 50 games when he was caught using it last year.¬† They’re also going to re-vote the All-Pro linebacker awards because Cushing was voted to the second team.

He’ll miss the first four games of the 2010 season because of the violation.

The only problem with taking back his award and re-voting on it, is that they don’t re-vot when other persons who have won awards despite breaking the rules.¬† To be fair, if you going to penalize one guy, you should penalize everybody.

What if the Texans had won the Super Bowl, would the AP be interested in some how taking back the championship trophy or not acknowledging the championship?

Are they going to take back or re-vote on the AP awards that Rimerez, Barry Bonds, Mark McGuire, Sammy Sosa, Alex Rodriguez and all the other steroid users received?

Shouldn’t they re-vote some of the coach of the year awards when we find out that certain college football and basketball coaches and their schools are cheating?¬† Just like the AP is doing with Cushing, shouldn’t some of these cheating coaches have their trophies and awards taken back.

Why doesn’t anybody call out the Pittsburgh Steelers and the use of steroids that helped them dominate the 70’s?¬† I remember Steelers center Mike Webster coming up to the ball with arms that looked like somebody’s legs.¬† A number of their offensive linemen used steroids.

If you’re not going to go back and get everybody, then leave Cushing alone.

The bigger question is why does it take so long to get results back from these tests..
Cushing took the test last September and the initial results were back in Febuary and then his appeal process takes another 3 months… ridiculous I say… (these aren’t DNA samples for Murder Cases we talking about)
Have every player on every team take a “pee-test” after every game, results should be back in 48 hours and if player fails, He is then suspended for 2 games, a 2nd Failed Test, then player is banned for remainder of the Season, a 3rd failing test result and you are banned from the game/sport..

I believe he took the test in September and the results were returned within weeks of the initial test. The reason it has taken so long to come out is because Cushing has the right to appeal the test. He can appeal that it was a false positive and then it can be ruled by a judge if the test was corrupted.

So the results of the test did not take long. The league got the results and told Cushing that he could be facing a four game suspension. He knew that the entire season, but you can’t appeal the results during the season…hence why it took until February.

Matter of fact, Cushing even passed a lie detector test when asked if he took PED’s. However, this proved to not be enough “evidence” to get the four game suspension revoked.

Hcg is NOT a “masking agent”. When you do a cycle of anabolic or androgenic steriods your natural production of testosterone shuts down, as your body sense the prescence of the synthetic test and limits how much is in your body. Hcg just turns your natural system of production back on again when you stop taking the juice. It s what you use after you were using steroids, it does not hide anything. Masking agents don’t really work anyway.
