Sources tell Jacksonville.com that the Jaguars and wide receiver Torry Holt have agreed on a two-year deal. Terms of the contract were not immediately disclosed.
Holt will immediately help the Jaguars because if they signed me I could immediately help them at wide receiver. They have no one on that team. They cut Matt Jones and have not brought back Reggie Williams.
Where I disagree with this article is where it says that Holt gives them their first No. 1 wide receiver since Jimmy Smith left.

I've been a Holt fan throughout his career, but please do not compare the 2009 version of Torry Holt (he's even admitted that he'll never be 100% again) with Jimmy Smith. There were several years there (around 2000 or so) where I really considered Smith to be the best all-around WR in football. Yes, over Randy Moss. Yes, over Terrell Owens. Yes, over Marvin Harrison. All around, I think he really was for a period of time. Go ahead, rip me. That's what I'm here for. And for what it's worth, the Eagles cut him in the preseason around 1993.
So anyway, yeah, Holt. If he was a true No. 1 WR, he would not have been on the market so long and the Rams wouldn't have cut him. He'll help the Jaguars, but please let's not get carried away.
And in Philly, don't we have absolute proof that Holt isn't a No. 1 anymore? The phone lines of WIP never lit up with "Go get Torry Holt!!" calls. That settles that.
