Yesterday the Eagles offered the Kansas Chiefs a third round pick for Hall of Fame bound tight end Tony Gonzalez. The Chiefs wanted a 2nd round pick and they got it today from the Atlanta Falcons.
The Birds came close but ultimately missed out on obtaining the gifted tight end. He would have been a major help to the Birds in the red zone. If you could have imagined having two pass catching tight ends to go to in the red zone.
Gonzalez would have been a great pick up for the Birds because he would have been able to tutor Celek as well as being a safety valve for Donovan McNabb.
They're going to have to address their tight end needs in the draft. Unfortunately they're not going to find a tight end in the draft who is ready to come in here and give them what Gonzalez would have given them.
