Favre Wants To Play For Vikes

Elite surgeon James Andrews, who recently operated on Brett Favre's arm, says that Favre wants to play for the Vikings.

"I'm not supposed to say anything but Brett kind of let that cat out of the bag on that HBO show," Andrews said. "I did his shoulder (arthroscopic) a few weeks ago. I visited him in Hattiesburg two weeks ago. He wants to play and he wants to play for the Minnesota Vikings."

"He wants to end his career on a high note and I hope he can. He's a tough guy, a great guy. I'm pulling for him. He wants to play. He just wants to make sure his shoulder and arm are healthy enough."

It's pretty much a done deal now as far as I'm concerned, Favre is going to play for Minnesota.

There have been reports this week that he has leased a condominium in Minneapolis. Why would he be doing that unless he's planning on playing football there this year?

He's had conversations with Vikings head coach Brad Childress and all the signs point to him playing with the Vikes.

If he comes back with a healthy arm, the Vikings will be one of the favorites to reach the Super Bowl from the NFC.

The Eagles beat them last year at the MetroDome but it would be tougher with a healthy and effective Favre.

They have a number of the pieces, a great defensive line led by Kevin Williams and Jared Allen, an outstanding running game with Adrian Peterson, but they're missing a good quarterback and an effective passing game.  Favre will likely try to provide those missing items.

Personally, I don't know that Favre can stay healthy all year.  I know he's got a great record for staying healthy in the past, but he's now an old man..  His arm went dead on him last year for the Jets and he had no zip on his passes.

That means staying healthy isn't as easy as an old man as it was as a young man.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Birds face the Vikes again in the playoffs.  Clearly the Eagles and Minnesota are two of the better teams in the NFC.
