I always thought the media was supposed to go after the truth and not try to be a promotional arm. Speaking of arms, Brett Favre revealed he has a tear in his rotator cuff that will worsen as the season continues.
If you were playing for the Minnesota Vikings right now and a reporter stuck a mic in your face and asked you what you thought of having Brett Favre on the team, what would you say?
Remember you've seen your coach abandon all self respect, get down on all fours, then spend the entire off season and all of training camp begging this guy to play for the team.
You wouldn't have much choice but to tell everybody how great it was that he joined the team. If you didn't you can believe you would be summoned to Brad Childress' office where you would get chewed out.
This is something anybody who has ever worked on a job knows. You don't go out publicly and blast your boss unless you want trouble.
Knowing all of this you look at the tube and see reporters making a big deal about what guys on the team have to say about Favre being on the squad.
Don't forget that they saw his arm give out on him and they saw him stink up the place last year in New York.
I would imagine that most of them are wait and see, even though they can't say it.
I can tell you that this is a dangerous situation if Favre doesn't start out fast. If he throws a few picks, Sage Rosenfels and Tavaris Jackson and any friends they have on the team could poison things very quickly.
You're asking for trouble as a coach when you openly treat one player different than everybody else.
If he starts out strong, the other players will gradually get on board, but if he starts out slowly, the locker room is going to be toxic before too long.
