It was a quite a surprise to see who that Patriots defensive lineman Richard Seymour pocketed nearly $25 million dollars which was more money than any other player in the National Football League. It wasn't a shock that Drew Brees of New Orleans finished second but the guys who followed him may surprise you . They both play the offensive line for the same NFC North team.
To no one's surprise, Patriots All-Pro quarterback Tom Brady and All-Pro defensive lineman Richard Seymour are among the top ten highest paid players in the National Football League. Seymour's contract counted over $24 million against the cap while Brady's compensation was about $16 million. These guys should be compensated on this type of level because they have carried the Pats to two Super Bowl championships.
The Bears became the first team to sign their number draft pick when they locked up tight end Greg Olsen to a five- year deal . Surprisingly the agent representing Olsen is Drew Rosenhaus who isn't known for settling so quickly. He also represents disgruntled Bears linebacker Lance Briggs and it made me suspicious that Chicago's negotiations with Briggs were reopened all of a sudden. If I were Olsen I would look into Rosenhaus compromising the negotiations to get talks started again for Briggs.
St. Louis Rams defensive tackle Claude Wroten was regarded as a big time player coming out of LSU but there was a question mark about him because of his off the field troubles. That was a good scouting report because Wroten was arrested and charged with criminal damage to property . He and his girlfriend broke up and she didn't want to return some items he had brought for her.
Jon Gruden can't be happy about one of his most important special team players cornerback Torrie Cox being ruled ineligible for the first four games of the season because he broke the league's substance abuse policy. Gruden will try to get off to a good start because it's common knowledge his job is on the line.
How dumb are the Oakland Raiders? They signed Dominin Rhodes, the guy who should have shared the MVP trophy with his other running mate Joseph Addai, but now Rhodes will miss the first four games of the NFL season because he violated the league's substance abuse policy.
